Should be a great show on Friday night at Kankakee, IL with the IRA coming to town. I would think with the MOWA, a few Knoxville regulars, and all the IRA regulars there should be a great car count.
Then IRA heads back to Plymouth, WI for a Saturday night show. Going to be a great weekend for some IRA action.

COUNT THE MOWA OUT, THEY ARE RACING A SPRINT INVADER SHOW IN JACKSONVILLE IL THAT NIGHT. MAYBE SOME KNOXVILLE TEAMS WILL SHOW. WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED TO SEE LASOSKI AND MCCARL BUT THATS ABOUT IT.

Sprint Invaders are 360's. Imagine a few of them have 360's and will run the Sprint Invaders but I still think there a few that only have 410's will show. Plus the purse is quite a bit better for the IRA then the Sprint Invaders.

I believe someone mis-spoke in stating this was a $3000 to win show. It is posted on the Kankakee website as $2200 to win and $250 to start. It will be a normal IRA purse.

Dick - That is funny as the Kankakee website said 3k to win earlier in the week when I posted this and now it has been changed to $2200. Guess there was a typo on their site. Still should be a great show.

@OutlawDan - how much traveling are Robinson/Blonde going to do the rest of the year?

It looks like 9-10 MOWA drivers will be there. Although we haven't asked all of our members, those who we know are planning on Kankakee include:
AJ Bruns Cory Bruns Jordan Goldesberry Mike Hess Jerrod Hull Jim Moughan Joey Moughan Jeremy Standridge Ben Wagoner

There was a typo on the website indicating it was a $3,000 to win show. I know some of the IRA shows pay this much, however this show pays the same as last year... $2,200 to win.
Sorry for the error.
No matter... this is still shaping up to be perhaps the best Outlaw Winged Sprint we have ever had here dating back to 2004 when Jason Johnson was victorious with a last lap pass. That year, Wayne Johnson of Mustang, OK also established the official one lap track record at Kankakee, blistering the 1/3-mile high banked clay oval in 11.600 seconds. No UMP Late Model has cracked the 14 second mark yet this year (14.194 season best effort).
Speaking of clay... this past October, 100 truckloads of clay were hauled in and added to the track's surface. The results have been amazing thus far in 2011. Not only do we still have the high low action that we've always had, but now we also have multi-grooves in between. The low side of the track surface was raised promoting more mulit-grooved racing here this year. Countless races this year have come down to the final lap, and even the final turn, and four wide racing is not uncommon.
Like most midwestern tracks, we have had our fair share of Mother Nature this spring, however, she has done us a great service in helping with the track prep. Seems she is a fan of Kankakee and likes to go racing on Friday nights here. We have yet to be rained out this year!
I'm looking forward to a great turnout of cars, and extremely fast race surface, and a tremendous show put on by all the talented drivers who have indicated they are coming. This is the only time this year, the Winged Sprints will appear in the Chicagoland / Illiana area. Action you won't want to miss... and if you blink, YOU PROBABLY WILL!
Drivers coming from IL, WI, MO, IA, and MI now.
Drivers confirmed are..... 3-time IRA Champ Bill Balog 6-time Knoxville & Husets Champ Terry McCarl 2-time IRA Champ Scotty Neitzel 3-time MASS Champ Jerrod Hull 2002 IRA Champ John Haeni 1999 IRA Champ Donny Goeden multi-time Butler MI Champ Chad Blonde 2007 IRA Kankakee Winner Mike Reinke multi-time IL Track Champ Jim Moughan

I am sure plenty of the IRA guys will have some used tires for sale if anyone needs some or give Steve Sinclair a call and I am sure he can hook you up with some.
Looking like it is going to be over 30 cars in attendance and should be a great show. I haven't been to Kankakee since the early 1990's so I am looking forward to getting back.

$15 dollar admission is a real bargain. It's eating away at me that I can't make it down. Hope the track has a great turnout.

yeah, at Oshkosh you have 3 or 4 good cars with no travelers and it costs $20. doesn't seem right.
