The topic isn't about racing cheap Chinese Crap or cost of racing its about unhooking the cars and the cars aren't all that locked down the tires were running now are junk compared to the tires we raced 15 years ago there so hard were running the same rears 3 or 4 nights unless you blister them cause the sidewalls are so stiff you can't get into the track without running 975's ,,,

You had better watch your mouth on the "Chinese Crap" choice of words. You just completely insulted every single viewer of this post. I will have you know, my entire house, closet, garage and attic is full of chinese crap. So is yours and so is everyone else who is reading this. So if i can drive to the races in my Chinese Ford or Chevy, i can watch a sprint car made in China just the same.
Just being humorous by the way!

So the non XXX cars that run in the 305 class were ALL made in China?? I guess we just learned something new about Maxim, J&J, Eagle, etc.
I also wasn't talking about about the cost of racing, YOU said if you want to watch slower speeds to go watch the 305's. I was just stating that they really aren't that much slower....I was also hoping you would bring me a couple new motors so I could go race a "real" sprintcar. But I see you are just interested in putting down the little guys. If only we could all have Tony or Kasey as a car owner.......
My .02 on the tire deal. As long as the "powers that be" are getting a little kick back from the tire manufacturers, there won't be any rule changes. So you might as well find something else to change...

Here's something to think about ,if you wanna see cars race with those rules and speeds ,,go watch 305's ,, now if you wanna watch real sprintcars put dished wings with a 1" wicker bill and real tires like we ran in the mid 90's not the Crap were running now
|
No, I like the 360 ASCS racing better than the 410's anyway. The biggest problem now with the 410's is that flat wing with the wicker bill talks all the air off the car behind so you can't get close to make a pass on a fast track. The dished wings make a much better show. As far as tires the 80's Hoosiers were 18 inches wide, Now there only 16 inches wide. Why you want to make the Motors cost less you can get 25 to 30 cars on the WoO tour. Also it would able to have the rebuilt every 25 to 30 shows not like now. As far as unhooking the cars the speed is not a big deal it's the lack of passing. And only 8 to 10 cars on the WoO tour.

Have any of you "unhook" people ever paid attention to the hundreds of in car videos? Look how much the driver is moving the wheel. Now to you, that 1/8th or 1/4th of a turn looks like nothing. BUT, do you realize that from full left lock, to full right lock is only about 1-1/4 turn? If the cars are so locked down, why does the driver have to work the snot out of the wheel to keep the car on the track? And why do you hear them lifting off the throttle and buzzing the tires? Just about everything you know about driving your street car doesn't apply to winged sprint car. As someone said earlier the flattop wings take all the air off the car behind. That means the car actually tightens up in traffic. Watch the Nationals video from a couple of years ago. Erin Crocker looks like a hero in the D or C main and transfers to the back of the next race. She rolls into turn one at the back of the pack, on a slick track and darn near bicycles the thing. Traffic screwed up the air flow and made it act like the wing wasn't there. More rules just cost racers money.

So, basically what you are saying is, Open up the rules, and you will not have to open up your wallet????????
Take the wings off and drive the engine costs down. I would agree with that, but not more rules cost racers more money.

Hey thanks for posting this Bigfish. One other advantage to wingless racing is that most of the time you can sit in the stands and watch the race without all of the dirt in your face. Yeah, it does happen, but I have worn white shirts to wingless races, like Burlington 2010 and it was still white after the show. This is a much more pleasing experience for most spectators. We went to Lowes for the Outlaw finals in both 09 and 10 and I had to leave the pit-side stands about half of the way through the features because I was done with getting pelted in the face with crap. The only reason that I would go back now is all of the used tires at the end of the program in North Carolina.

Remove the front wing. Flatten the top wing. Make the top wing side boards even on both sides. I'd also like to see the drivers side of the cockpit open, but not at the expense of potential driver safety.

also, everyone could
1. remove one piston
2. remove one tire, or flatten two--drivers choice
3. 400 gallon gas tank minimum--should also make it so no one will have to endure a 5 minute fuel stop
4. must burn a 50/50 mix of methanol and goat urine
5. all cars must use transmissions now--out of a 84' citation.
this should slow the cars enough to where we all can better enjoy the experience at the track. May closely resemble the footage i saw from the 1st indy 500.

The faster the better, I hope cars continue to get faster. Long live 410 sprints, winged that is.
