BLOOMINGTON FEATURES SPRINTS, MODIFIEDS, & SUPER STOCKS ON KIVA NETWORKING NIGHT From Tim McKinney
BLOOMINGTON, IN -- Going into May 18th competition at Bloomington Speedway the Safety-Kleen Sprint Car points will be led by Dave Darland, Tracy Hines, Chris Windom, Jon Stanbrough, and Levi Jones. Unfortunately, those standings reflect only the results from the Elliottbrand Clash. The other three nights of Safety-Kleen Sprint Car competition fell victim to the weatherman. Our sprint car competitors are anxious to get back into action on the red clay; because, by the time they unload Friday night, it will have been four weeks since they saw action at Bloomington Speedway.
Not only are the Safety-Kleen Sprint Car competitors looking forward this Friday night's program to get their Bloomington Speedway program back on track, they are also looking forward to the Bonus Night payoff. This extra payout was scheduled to be made at our season opening race on April 13. When the season opener was rained out, Mike Miles kept moving it to the next available regular program. These Bonus Night payoffs are intended to say thanks to the competitors for the great racing that we are able to offer our fans every week. As it turns out the May 18 program will be the first of two Bonus Nights in a row. The May 25 race was already scheduled to be a Bonus Night.
The O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds and the Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks will also be in competition on May 18. Both classes typically show up in substantial numbers to show the assembled fans the best in dirt track racing. They should have two shows in the books by May 18; but they too will have missed three shows. That will make each remaining race that much more important in determining this season's champions. Of course, these competitors will also be in store for Bonus Night payoffs.
In addition to the great racing on May 18, we will have the good folks with Kiva Networking joining us. There is no telling what their presence will add to the festivities; but they can be expected to add a little fun and probably some information to the evening.
Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $12 for this event (children 12 and under are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $25.
