BUD KAEDING SCORES 4TH USAC WC360 FEATURE
By Lance Jennings

HANFORD, CA – MAY 24, 2011... Last Saturday night, Campbell's Bud Kaeding scored his fourth victory of the year with the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series. The 3-Time USAC Silver Crown Champion also claimed the companion Taco Bravo Ocean Sprints vs. ASCS Southern California Sprint Car main event at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. With the win, Kaeding is now tied for second on the career feature win list with last season's champion Craig Stidham.

With a four pill drawn for the main event inversion, Bud Kaeding shared the front row with Hollister's Ryan Bernal. Starting from the pole position of the twenty-two car feature, Bernal led the first ten circuits before falling to Kaeding. The veteran driver also won the 10-lap Extreme Muffler's Heat Race #1 and is currently seventh in the points.

Richard VanderWeerd of Visalia was fourth in the Hanford 30-lap feature. Driving Ron VanderWeerd's #10 VanderWeerd Construction / Battery Worx Maxim, the young driver was second fast in time trials and won the Saldana Racing Products / Keizer Wheels Heat Race #2. "Showtime" Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria won the night's third heat race, sponsored by DJ Safety. Driving the Kittle Motorsports' #18K Pace Lighting / PJ1 Sherman, Sheridan was nineteenth quick in time trials and finished eleventh in the feature. In limited starts, the former Bandit Sprint Car Champion is nineteenth in the points as the series heads to his home track.

Buena Park's Brody Roa won the 12-lap Keizer Wheels Semi-Main Event. Piloting the BR Performance #91R Stinger backed by L.A. Prep and "Biker" Bruce Fischer, the 2010 Wagsdash Champion was fifth fast in qualifications and sixth in his heat race. Roa placed sixth in the 30-lap feature and is currently tied for twenty-fifth in points with Kolby Araki.

In his first start with the USAC West Coast 360s, Tracy's Austin Liggett earned the Keizer Wheels' "Hard Charger / Best Passing Job" honors on the night. Driving Tim Liggett's #83 Excel Environmental Services / Home Connections Inc. Eagle, the Micro-Sprint graduate scored a fifteenth place finish after starting twenty-second. Earlier in the program, Liggett was twenty-seventh fast in time trials, seventh in his heat race, and finished sixth in the semi-main. We rolled across the scales at 1570 lbs. with 10 gallons of fuel and that is exactly what we expected. I thought it odd that because several cars weighed light, the officials deemed the scales broken.

Oh well, on to the next race.

It was also odd that the wing cars rolled onto the scales right after the nonwing- wasnt broke for them-

Oh so now Bud only wins cause he cheats?? I've heard it all before but that's just plain stupid. Bud can out drive every single non wing driver in this state and looking at his statistics he's won all across the country against the rest too. Bud is just a better racer than the rest on any given night. What's he have 3 usac national silver crown titles? The other racers are better off having him race out here showing them how its done. With the talent racing in the west coast 360 deal a powerful argument can be made that its tougher to win in that series than it is in the usac cra series. Welcome to the future folks.
Cheers!

No one said that he cheats, ever 1 knows he is the one to beat, rules are rules his car as well as 4 others weighed in lite . First time all year they weight cars and because 5 out of 30 were light scales must be broke? Really? What about the rest that made weight.the wing cars used the same scales and it worked for them right after the nonwing. Political bs is what it is. Cheers

Derp the dork speaks again! Do you have anything positive to say about racing or you just pissed off someone stole your lunch money? So-Cal site, Nor-Cal site it doesn't matter, because all you do is throw crap out there(especially at the Kaedings IMO). Maybe find a new hobby if racing is really bothering you that badly.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

What is the weight rule for USAC 360's?

Also, Ryan Bernal is a very strong up and coming non winged driver. He's driven spec sprints the last few years, and done very well at it, and is knocking on the door for his first 360 ASCS win. Looked like he had a good race with Bud at Hanford, and he is still learning how to drive a fuel injected sprint car.

. Weights- All California 360 Series sprint cars must weigh a minimum of 1,500 lbs w/driver @ any time.

No Bud wins because he is an excellent driver and drives for a great team that comes to the track well prepared. I didn't post to poke at Bud. If the scales were as well maintained as Bud's car, there would have been no problem. If anyone should have their nose out of joint because of these comments it should be the officials or Scott Woodhouse. If this is the first time cars were weighed this year, shame on the officials.

See you at Santa Maria!

No Bud wins because he is an excellent driver and drives for a great team that comes to the track well prepared. I didn't post to poke at Bud. There is NEVER a good excuse to deem a set of scales unreliable just by a few cars weighing light. EVERY organization should have a 50lb. weight as part of their equipment package so any set of scales could be checked.

Im not saying that anything wrong or improper took place at the past race, just that a single piece of weight as part of a groups equipment takes out any chance of error. If scales arent tested prior to a event, who is to say they are accurate?
