So let's throw some picks out there for the Bully Hill NY Nationals at the Black Rock Speedway this weekend.

Two nights of features, friday 25 laps, saturday is 35. $40,000 purse over the weekend.

All the top national drivers plus the best from the ASCS Patriots, ASCS Mid-Atlantic and ESS.

By the way- we are also likely to have the audio back up LIVE on high speed radio again.

So let's hear the picks.

Gary Wright is the obvious choice. Hebing I think can pull a top 5 without any problems. Jason Barney has already said that he isn't showing up, so he's not a factor. I'm looking forward to seeing the ascs nationals for the first time. I can't make it out there friday night, but I plan on being there on saturday. Rich, I actually met you at fulton a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I'll see you again.

Jason Barney IS now coming to this event.

The last time he made a last-minute decision to race: 2nd at the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

COOL!!! That makes me even more excited. Jeez, he lives right down the road from me, you'd think I'd have heard. If I can get my dad to go he'll probably run even better. My dad doesn't go out that often, but Jason always begs him to go. He used to work with Jason every week back in modifieds. Ever heard of Donnie Wetmore? My dad was working with him for about fifteen years. He knows his stuff. That 16th to 5th last year at utica-rome labor day weekend probably wouldn't have happened had my dad not told Jason what to do to the car. However my dad wasn't there at the canadian sprint nationals, so they did that themselves.

ASCS Live Returns to HighSpeedRadio.com This Weekend for NY Nationals

By Rich Vleck (ROCHESTER, NY) May 16, 2007- Live action returns to the internet once again this weekend as the American Sprint Cars on Tour take center stage on www.HighSpeedRadio.com.

ASCS Live went off with a bang back in February at East Bay's King of the 360 Winternationals, it is now time to have the finest 360 drivers from around the country be available around the country.

The live audio broadcast will take place on both Friday and Saturday night, starting at 6:00 p.m. for hot laps from the Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY. This will be the 9th Annual Bully Hill Vineyards NY Sprint Nationals, but the first that will be available live on the Internet.

ASCS and Black Rock announcer Rich Vleck hosted the action from Florida a few months ago, and will once again have the call for ASCS Live. Vleck will be joined by track announcer and sprint car aficionado Greg Birosh.

Racing action will include feature action for the finest sprint cars in the country on both Friday and Saturday Night. Also featured will be Black Rock's local action on Friday and three divisions of mini and micro sprints on Saturday.

Chuck Hebing was the winner. Since Hebing is nicknamed "The Cobra," his No. 45 is painted to look like a snakeskin. LOL

Excellent race- the track prep guys have this place figured out.

Johnson got out front but Hebing made a nice move after a lap 6 restart to get him after 3 sets of corners. While the bottom was best he drove around him on the top.

Wright was coming but had to start 9th.

Like i said- great race and great overall racing.

Welcome to NY. The Cobra drives full to the floor, win it or wreck it, I've seen it in person.

Raced the same way in a Modified before moving to Sprint Cars.

I know, it didn't work as well in modifieds, he would lead in the beginning, and then either break or use up his tires.

ya'll new yorkers remember where the 8 national guys are coming from.

Wayne Johnson - Mustang, OK but now resides in Knoxville, Iowa

Andy shouse, Foster Landon, and Darren Stewart all from Oklahoma

Travis Rilat from Forney, Texas ( a stones throw from the famous Devils Bowl Speedway)

Gary Wright........Mr. East Texas

Jason Johnson........goes by the Cajun Sensation but listen to him talk for 30 sec. and you know he's from the BAYOU.

and then the kicker.........Chris Scmelzle.......Canada. But no Canada up by you guys.......try Canada north of Washington. He ran at Skagit there in Washington before joining ASCS. Gotta root for that guy......................looks like ya'll had some good racin up there............good for ya'll.

Hebing must be really good to beat the likes he did tonight.

the cobra is one of the best racers that ever came out of New York easily. I would rate him in the top 3 for the nations top 3 360 drivers .

OKC Fan, thanks for the background info. Of the drivers you listed, the only one I was not familiar with was Andy Shouse. Were Shouse and Landon locals at OKC?

As for Chuck Hebing, I can't believe how good a Sprint Car driver he has become in, I believe, his fourth year in Sprints. I saw him race many times in a Modified while he ran with the Northeast DIRT organization and he was probably slightly above a mid-pack Modified driver. I saw him race against the 360 Patriot Sprints at Canandaigua (N.Y.) two years ago and I couldn't believe it was the same guy that used to race Modifieds.

Canandaigua was Hebing's home track when he raced Modifieds, and that place was absolutely stacked for a Saturday night Modified track. The place had about four full-time drivers in the weekly Modified field. Hebing won the Patriot Sprint championship last year and won each of this season's first two Patriot features prior to Friday night.

Don't know if you are aware of it, OKC, but Gary Wright actually had a couple starts in the late 1980s at the Super DIRT Week Modified race at the Syracuse (N.Y.) Mile. That was back when some of the tracks in Texas were experimenting with Northeast dirt Mods and before Gary devoted all of his efforts to Sprint Cars.

It's a shame that the ASCS National 360 race in central PA at Susquehanna is running against the special Keystone Cup 410 race at Big Diamond. Fans in PA won't go to a 360 race, even with National stars, when there is a 410 race on the same night.
