Chris Graf Early UMSS Point Leader

by: Greg Parent, UMSS Media Director (5-18-11)

Chris Graf of Glencoe, driver of the #20G sprint car, leads Andy Jones from Princeton by one point in the current UMSS point standings after the first two shows of the 2011 racing season. Veteran racer Jerry Richert, Jr. from Forest Lake anchors down the third spot just ten points out of first. Graf has posted two second place finishes in UMSS action this season while also advancing the most positions of any driver from his original starting spots. Graf moved forward eight positions in the feature race on May 7 at the Ogilvie Raceway and drove forward three spots on Friday May 13 at Chateau Raceway. Graf earned the GRP Motorsports Hardcharger Award at Ogilvie.

Chris Graf's J&J sprinter is powered by a Coop Racing Engine with sponsorship from Peterson Motorsports, RTL Construction, Glencoe Dairy Queen, Pacific Equipment, GRP Motorsports, and Coop Racing Engines. Graf will attempt to improve his finishing position by one spot when the UMSS returns to action at the Rice Lake Speedway on Saturday night May 28 for a $1,000 to win show with some additional bonus money in the purse courtesy of GRP Motorsports. Graf will also have the opportunity to earn a Hoosier tire certificate good for a rear tire should he win the feature on May 28, and he will also be eligible for a $100 GRP Team bonus should he be the highest finishing GRP sponsored car in the feature event. Chris Graf #20G at Chateau Raceway May 13.

As a long time sprint car fan I wold like to thank you for a great show in Lansing. It may have not been the best weather (cold) but it was worth it. Hope you come back in the future.

Chris Graf picked up his first win of the season in UMSS action at the Rice Lake Speedway on Saturday May 28, as he did indeed improve his finishing position by one spot over his two previous UMSS starts this season. Coming into a big double-header weekend at the Princeton Speedway on Friday June 3 and the Ogilvie Raceway on Saturday June 4, Graf holds a 22 point lead in the early point standings over Andy Jones with Jerry Richert, Jr. just three markers back from Jones.
