I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Knoxville Raceway for allowing the young people from English Creek Speedway to share their cars with fans of Knoxville Raceway. It is a dream of many of the young racers at English Creek Speedway is to someday participate in the sprint car program at the famed half mile. I do believe that more of these type of cross promoting between tracks like English Creek and Knoxville is the key to getting the younger fans back to Saturday nights at the race track.
English Creek Speedway is proud to say we are helping building the future of sprint car racing.
Congratulation to Carson McCarl and Jamie Ball on their one two finish in the 305 main event Saturday.
Both Carson and Jamie got their starts at English Creek Speedway. We are proud to say there were 8 English Creek Speedway racers competing at Knoxville this week end.

I think English creek is still new enough to have lots of guys at Knoxville but many k-ville racers have mini Sprint and micro Sprint laps. I can tell you that a mini Sprint on a slick track like Stuart is very similar to racing at Knoxville.

The point of this tread is not saying one track or another is better but to promote young people moving into the sprint car ranks.
There has been a lot of conversation in regards as to what do we need to do to get young people back to the race track. Thanks to Knoxville for letting the kids from English Creek show off their cars, I believe is one way to keep young people interested in our sport.

Just to add to your list of racers to come from Outlaw Dirt Karts and please excuse me if I leave someone out. Brad Sweet (he is the reason for the weight rule) Kyle Hurst.
Drivers that have competed at English Creek Speedway that have moved on to race at Knoxville Raceway, Alan Ambers, Tony Shilling, Cassie Shilling, Jamie Ball, Nick Ross, Cody Ambers, Michael Williams and Matt Juhl. I truly apologize if I have left someone out.
Other racers to race at the English Creek Speedway Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals, J.J. Yeley,
John Carnie, Matt Moro, Robby Wolfgana, Brad Sweet, Kayle Larson, Mason More and Saen Becker.
If you know of others please add them to our list.
I know there are a lot of sprint car drivers on the west coast that have come from the Outlaw Dirt Kart ranks.
I do believe that in the short time that English Creek Speedway has be in existence they have proven to be a true stepping stone to Knoxville Raceway.

In Northern California most of the young sprint car drivers come out of the go-kart ranks. Cycleland Speedway, south of Chico races outdoors in the summer months and in Red Bluff there is an indoor winter series. Some 16 year old sprint car drivers start out with 10 years of racing experience.

Tyler Wolfe, Colby Copeland, Kenny Allen, John Michael Bunch, Jake Morgan, on the west coast. I'll think of more, I'm sure.

See if you can find kids that have moved up to the sprint car ranks and are some of the best in the country.

The track at Newton, Karts and cage carts, have also sent many drivers to Knoxville. Jon Agan and the Van Haaftens off the top of my head. Good starter tracks and series all over the country. Had a great conversation with Tony Stewart at an autograph session back in 1999 while he signed my sons kart panel. He raced against the father of one of my sons competitors in Oskaloosa for the national championship when he was a kid.

Austin McCarl was the 2007 English Creek Micro Champion. He was also Rookie of the year winning 12 features. Carson McCarl set the all time track record that year and won 4 features as a 12 year old. English Creek is a fun, family oriented place and we are happy that the young people in this area have a place to race and hopefully become hooked on open wheel racing like we are! Thanks to everyone at English Creek for all their efforts.

We started running the outlaw Karts in Missouri in 2003. They are such a handfull of ridiculously unusable power that they are an excellent training ground for sprint cars.
In Missouri the following drivers have moved from the outlaw karts to sprint cars....
Kyle Bellm...360 feature winner, 305 track rookie of the year
Kyle Carpenter...360 driver
Jay Reynolds....305 feature winner
and myself, Dustin Arnall...2 305 feature wins in 20 starts, 1 midget win in 12 starts, 305 track rookie of the year.
and several others who moved into some from of fendered car with success
I can honestly say that a sprint car with power steering is easier to drive that a 500cc outlaw kart...my fist laps in the 305 felt like I was driving a milk tanker truck after running the winged karts.
Anybody who wishes to race sprint cars but lacks the finances should really take a test drive in one of these karts...words can't describe em.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Pretty sure Destiny Hayes spent quite a bit of time in the outlaw karts.
JoJo Helberg has become a very successful asphalt sprint car driver and his sister Jessica spent some time in a sprinter before trying to make it in NASCAR land....both of them logged many many laps in outlaw karts.

Yes you are right, Destiny Hayes, Jessica & JoJo Helberg also, sorry I forgot them on the list... I did say... "and I'm sure I'm missing a few more drivers" and probably a few more still.
The Red Bluff Indoor Winter Series www.rboutlaws.com where the Outlaw Sprint Karts started probably gets over 125 karts every race, running 5 divisions: Beginner Box Stock, Box Stocks, 250cc Intermediates, 500 Opens, and 500 Open Sportsmans.
From the post of darnall: "They are such a handfull of ridiculously unusable power that they are an excellent training ground for sprint cars." I think most outlaw sprint kart drivers would agree with his post.

The point of this post is not to say one track is better than another but to get the big tracks and small tracks to work together to grow sport. It does not matter if you go karts or outlaw dirt karts the key is this is future of all forms of motor sports.
The reason I use English Creek Speedway is because I have been involved in Outlaw Dirt Karts for 15 years.
I am surprised that the people up north have not jumped in with names of driver that moved on to sprint cars. I can think of a couple right off the top Jack Zewber and Blake Anderson
