What is the payout for the 410's on the weekly show?

It appears that the Grove pays their winner with a hefty amount, but anything from second on back is getting a fraction of what Knoxville pays out for the same positions.

Bye bye, Hardhat!

I know a couple years ago Lucas Oil kicked in sponsorship to raise the 410 purse at Knoxville and I give Knoxville credit they spread it out through the whole field.

Yeah that is the Grove's basic handicap purse(not including bonuses).

The Grove has 14 raised purse shows.

They need to do something about their 360 purse. Those guys are racing for nothing if they are not in the top 4.

Wouldn't surprize me if the 360 class gets dropped for the 305's in the near future. The 360 purse is about right for a support class. The 410 payout is pretty stout top to bottom, can't wait to get back to Knoxville!

I very well could be, but if a class has to go I'd bet my $$$$ on the 360's being gone. The big engine sprints are the mainstay and I don't think that will change. The 305's would then become the "feeder" class for the big engine sprints as it should be.

I checked the Knoxville website. Looks like the last night in 2010 there were 23 305's. Looks like 305's are the future feeder class.

Seems like quite a jump to me.

If that were to happen, it would certainly put a crimp on all the "360s and their horrible purses are where it's at." posts we got on here.

Maybe not as big a leap as you think. The 305 lap times were faster than the nonwing USAC sprinters during the August show at Knoxville.

I totally agree 48. Keeping the 305's costs from getting too far out of hand will be a must but they do put on a good show and bring a good count. Many 360 would drop down and run 305's if that were to happen and hopefully several would move up to 410's. The last show I had the 305's running around 17.3 by my stop watch.

Thats what the 360`s were back in the late 80`s. Just think if Knoxville would drop the 410`s and pay out 2/3`s of what the purse is now for the 410`s to the 360`s what the car count would be? I still dont see them getting much more than 25 cars in the 410`s a week.

Car count might be fine, fan count wouldn't be so good. Looking at the drivers list for this year, the big motor sprints appears to have more competitors than 360 sprints. Nothing wrong with the current 360 class, but they just don't draw the fans like the big engine sprints.

If Koccksville brings in the All-Sttars as planed we will see the 410s being in the 45-60 car range and maybe get rid of the 360ys like it shoold be an run 305s.

The purse will not cover the expenses it takes to run a car at Knoxville or anywhere else.Sponsorship and the point fund with the contingency merchandise are the only way many of the racers can compete weekly. There are very few just drivers anymore as most are owners also.Every time an idea comes up to cut costs it usually costs more. The $15 it costs to be in the bleachers at Knoxville is a bargain .305 racing started out with the right idea the same as the 360s did at Knoxville probably 20 years ago with 2barrel carbs and steel wheels. With the field we will see at Knoxville this year it just might be a regular that wins the Nationals. If you look at what the top WOO drivers make in purse money and take what it costs to field a top team you will wonder why there are as many as there are.People do it for the love of the sport not for the money.
