For the second time in three weeks, I've read online where a representative of a track told someone to stay away simply because that person voiced an opinion about track conditions, the race program or those kinds of things.

It's time for a little Business 101. In this economy, NOBODY has the luxury of telling people to stay away (unless we're talking physical altercations, rules violations or something far more serious). KOP got on here and made a plea for folks to pack the stands at Lawton. It was an admirable request and I did my part to respond. As I finally reached the track a little after 8, I can tell you from the parking lot view driving in, the place was far, far from packed.

From drivers to car owners to fans, nobody is expendable these days. How many more tracks will have to close before we get our hands around the dire situation we face compared with 20 years ago? Those of us who plunk down the cash have the right to voice an opinion when we don't like something. We need to be reasonable when we do so and avoid personal attacks. The working staffs can then take that criticism and make improvements, or jump on a site like this one and give an equally reasonable explanation for the way things are. We don't work at the track. There are probably some things we don't understand. It is fair to criticize the one-lane sprint racing that always seems to occur at Lawton. If there's a feasible explanation for it, tell me. Otherwise, what can we do to fix it?

So you get a few negative comments after an event? Try hosting 80,000 some time and reviewing those emails and phone calls. But the fan is ALWAYS right and the good event manager will always do what it takes to please the person who fills the seat, whether it's in a car or in the bleachers.

That said, I truly do appreciate the people who promote racing for us by running a track. I imagine it's challenging to cover all of the bases. For the most part, I have a lot of fun and am almost always treated very well.

I agree i really get tired of the track promoter and or his staff having there little golden boys. This weekend was a prime example of that at thunderbird speedway in mus. Oklahoma. The ncra sport mod division was duumed from the start because the track golden boy cannot beat some of the ncra guys. The track promoter decided that all sport mods with shock extentions where illegal even thou imca has said they where legal. Then slater the track promoter decided that they where legal, then he had the track tire sales ladie going around filming and taking pictures of all the biscuit and pdr race cars. which to me if u cannot beat someone u sure dont make there cars illegal thats bs. then in the sport mod 3rd heat race golden boys slater went down the race track under what ever red yellow is beating the rear bumper off the 77 sport mod and nothing was said. Then to top it off SLATER goes to his trailer and starts a fight with his pit crew and the driver. kicks them out then decides to let them back in wow he is a little unstable. best part of the night is when the golden boy SLATER got spun out in the feature ( karma sucks). So iam going to say this i hope the ncra never goes back and if u as a racer are planning a trip there u might keep ur money cause if the promoters grandson dont win u will be DQ so he will win. Point is there are way to many good race tracks and promoters out there that would love to have your car and treat u like family and drivers, cause i promise u that Grandpaw Slater could give a crap less

I was outa line the other night and let my emotions get the best of me and I apologize for that. As paying fans, drivers, and car owners y'all are entitled to your opinions and we respect them. I apologize again for the comments I made to some of yall the other night.

I agree Kenny. I didn't feel like I attacked anyone. All I stated was the fact it was a shame these days to have 40 sprint cars in the pits for a special and have a bad track. I feel bad for the mod guys too, they had to deal with the same thing. I will go back when ASCS is there. I just hope the conditions are better.

Problem is, the track/series/business needs to do what they do in the real world and fire those people who make attacks on the paying customer. You said it, "the customer is always right," even if we don't totally agree.

If a person gets on somewhere and rants and raves that is maybe one thing but to post what they didn't like and get slammed to the hilt and told to never come back and keep your ass at home, that is totally wrong and calls for termination.

This is Dennis Slader. And in response to talon 22. The lady that sells tires and her husband build race cars. Evidently it wouldn't occur to you that many people take pictures to have something to look at to copy. And for your info on the 77. I work the front straight away. He had hit several cars on the track and under the caution had I not jumped has fast and far has I could have he would have run over me when I was trying to line the cars up. The reason we told him to leave was for the way he went to the pits. I had people wanting him kicked out that was their first night there. After everyone calmed down te driver apologized and we allowed him to stay and race. And trust me several people thAt he almost ran over in the pits was not happy with this. As far as the shock mounts go, to me they are not legal. We love people to outrun Kyle and he has been black flagged on the track as many times as anyone else and for you info we scored his team car last in the heat for jumping. Sorry you didn't enjoy your trip and if you race there were 26 other cars there that you had to out run besides Kyle. And has stated above we want has many people has we can to support all race tracks. If you have any more concerns or suggestions I can be reached at 918 8696955

They don't need us. After Saturday night I am staying home this weekend. I have already spent far to much money this year and Saturday was enough. I'm taking some time off, take my money some where else since the promoters don't need or want it.

Exactly! That is why I will continue to go support the tracks. Hell a bad sprint car race is still better than no sprint car race.

I will respond the the TALON 22 as well, I'm the Official that approached the 77 pit not DENNIS AND NOT STANLEY, We have a job to do and thats keep everyone in the pits and on the track safe at all times. We had several newbies to the track plus regulars that complained about his speed through the pits. I Kevin the Official that works everywhere on the track approached the 77 pit and spoke to the driver and his father and simply told him that we had concerns about his speed and ruff driving, Then theres a heated moment which was all worked out and the driver and I shook hands and we let him race thats all there was to it, It dang sure didnt have anything to do with the 19 car cause last time I checked we have black flagged him as many times as anyone else and as Dennis said I believe there was 30 other Sport Mods there as well. Thunderbirdspeedway is and will be the place to race, We show everyone with respect and a great welcome. We enjoy racing as all of you do. Dennis and team has worked very hard to see that we have a drama free track and for the most part theres been no issues at the track, Now of course theres going to be heated moments and thats just racing. I will leave on this note for a promoter and track Manager Dennis is trying his hardest to make sure know one enters or exits Thunderbird unhappy and if you did call him and they would make it right no matter what. Now onto another great Friday Night at the Bird.......

Thanks -Kevin
