Silver Crowns at Darlington a Huge Success…Photos
The Silver Crown Race at Darlington was a huge success. Both in turn out and in racing.
Southern stock car people turned out in BIG numbers (see crowd photos) for a Thursday night USAC Silver Crown race at Darlington. race and loved it. They stood and cheered the many passes that were made in the last 10 laps of the 50 lap feature.

Yikes. I've never been scared of a racecar before, those things could turn me off permanently. 14 cars doesn't make a feature unlesss you are in CART or IRL. Ugly, ugly beasts....

Your drinking that ole southern moonshine if you think all those people were there to see those fugly SC cars race. Here is the Thursday schedule for Darlington. If it weren't for the Busch Series / Busch Whackers (AKA NEXTEL CUP STARS) on the card, the place would have been quite EMPTY!!!!

Rob:
I can see where a lot of people showed up around 7pm since it was after all a week night where most people work till 5pm. I can also appreciate your wanting to defend USAC a little since you have just been appointed to a new position with them. Congrats on that too!
However, lets all be honest here, if there weren't "CUP" stars for fans to try and get a peek at (for the low $10 ticket mentioned), does anyone really and truly think there would of been such a turnout for just the SC cars? I believe the Homestead race (where there were ZERO "Cup" stars to see) was the real indicator of the SC interest (or lack thereof). USAC just screwed up the Silver Crown Series big time. Its sad, but true.

Talk about sour grapes! Any "new" creation takes time! Check back in say 100 Fu#*+@g years and marvel at USAC's creation! E-Mods.
