ASCS Southern California Opener Saturday at Kings!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (April 4, 2011) – A new chapter in American Sprint Car Series history begins this Saturday night as the ASCS Southern California Region kicks off its inaugural year of competition at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway.
Saturday's tilt marks the first of a dozen scheduled events for the winged Sprint Cars of the ASCS Southern California Region at four tracks, with other tracks poised to host the series including Tulare's Thunderbowl Raceway, Santa Maria Speedway and Bakersfield Speedway.
It will also be the first step in crowning the first ASCS champion in California.
While the American Sprint Car Series broke California ground with a pair of wingless Canyon Region events last year, the Lucas Oil ASCS National winged ranks kicked off the 2011 season with debut appearances at Thunderbowl and Kings Speedway in February.
The California shoes defended their turf quite nicely from the invading National forces in February, with Tim Kaeding tops at Tulare and then Kyle Larson winning at Kings.
Saturday's card marks the first of six scheduled ASCS Southern California events at Hanford's Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway. Saturday's racing action goes green at 6:30 p.m.
The high-banked, 3/8-mile Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway clay oval is located in Hanford, CA, south of SR 198 on 10th Avenue to the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact the track at 559-584-7223.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
Additional information regarding the American Sprint Car Series is available at www.ascsracing.com.
