Like so many things in our racing history lately, we have now lost the National Speed Sport News. They have published their last issue and are closing the doors.
This is another sad day in our racing community. National Speed Sport News was started by Chris Economaki in 1934 and served as the only major racing Newspaper for 77years.
I don't know how much more of this I can take.

The internet is killing print media. Instant results as they happen instead of reading about them two or three days later. Shoot many of us have phones that can access the net as well.
It is a sad day though. One of the staples in the racing world.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands
in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he
stands at times of challenge and controversy."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

In the 80's had always looked forward to recieving my NSSN on Monday or Tuesday to read all the WoO sprint results and other sprint results around the country. The best part was when Don Hubbard would have a new editon of "Sooner Circles" to find out what was going on the champ dirt car and later sprint car scene in and around Oklahoma.
While one would have hoped it could survive, it really was just a matter of time for this to happen. You can only do so many feature stories on drivers and technology, makes you wonder about magazines like Flat Out and Sprint Car and Midget as well.
A sad day for all of motorsports as we lost the Gospel of racing trade papers.

Oh come on John, you know I have a history of not knowing where the speel check button is. Much less the necessary proofreading skills.

Thanks for the kind words David. I do miss it all but surely enjoying this Florida weather. Have been here since late January and will be back in New York the end of April. Have a great year.

Sorry Uncle Cracker, I feel this is all my fault for not uniting and taking a stand. I also accept full responsibility for SFS, the gulf oil spill, and whatever else you decide to get on a soap box and try to tell us all we did it.

That was good Pork Chop. We need more people like you suppling race car parts. Yes, I did get on the soap box, but nobody else has the nerve to do it.
Sorry man, I still Love ya, but doesn't Racing pay your Mortgage.

No actually racing doesn't pay my mortgage. Sheetmetal work and welding pay my mortgage. I wish the wings did but it is a good part time job.
