FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MARCH 21, 2011
DICK JORDAN 11-25

USAC/CRA VICTORVILLE SPRINT DEBUT SATURDAY

Pick-A-Parts Victorville (Calif.) Raceway Park hosts its initial USAC event this Saturday night as the AMSOIL USAC/CRA Sprint Cars invade the 3/8-mile dirt oval at the Victorville Fairgrounds.

Defending three-time USAC/CRA Champion Mike Spencer leads the series standings again this season after winning the series opener at Perris, Calif. March 12.

Spencer is the only three-time USAC/CRA Champion and is trying to become only the third driver in USAC history to win four consecutive championships in a single series. The others are Butch Hartman (1971-1974 Stock Cars) and Michael Lang (1994-1997 Regional Midgets).

Spencer is 10 points ahead of Damion Gardner, with Matt Mitchell currently third in the standings, 13 back of the leader.

AMSOIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR POINT STANDINGS

1-Mike Spencer-72; 2-Damion Gardner-62; 3-Matt Mitchell-59; 4-Nic Faas-57; 5-Blake Miller-56; 6-David Cardey-53; 7-Danny Sheridan-52; 8-Austin Williams-45; 9-Greg Bragg-43; 10-Greg Alexander-41.

Welcome to dealing with the naysayers and whiners on the internet who just cant seem to be able to have a good time no matter what.

Keep your head up, promote your track and events, enjoy the racing and pay no attention to the internet bollocks.

I am looking forward to heading back to VV if I can manage to get there this weekend. Great track and im sure the CRA will put on an awesome show well worth the $20 for fans.

I wasn't whining or naysaying. I was just posting the prices as there was no prices for the event posted anywhere and there were people asking if the prices had changed from last year. I inquired and posted the prices. Sorry I missed the free meal for people in the pits...I didn't see it as a selling point for the 50 dollar pit passes. Maybe I'm wrong.

I apologize, I guess im a bit tired of some of the bickering and fell into it.

Should be a good time, hope everyone can make it. Maybe lobster and mamosas in the pits?

Since your responding here I have a question please....any fuel/ tires/parts vendor at the track? Also how about opening up the pits to the fans till say three o'clock then running everyone out without a pit pass...thanks for any response

I think that opening the Pits till a certain time is a GREAT Idea...I do that with my Monster Truck Shows...Everyone is allowed in the Pit Party from 6P to 7:15 P...But that is a different animal then real Racing...I am going to look into it..I believe we will have Fuel and Tires, waiting on confirmation...As far as the Free Food...It will be either Hot Dog.or Pizza..Chips...Drink...and a Candy or Pie....Certainly worth the $5 Buck difference that will go back to the Racers...We don't get Food or Beer, so we have to be a little creative!!!!! Hey I think these Boards are great!!! We want to keep in the loop to make things better!!!!

Hey no matter what it will be a good day at the track. The pit-passes are a little steep for the crews' but hey they have to pay the purse. Just a heads up to everyone that can make it, it's supposed to be in the low to mid 50's for the high so dress warm especially if the wind picks up but it will be a good nights racing on the oval.

I would like to give a big thank you Cary Faas and Jack Gardner for having the Cajones for putting up the money for their original race out there at Victorville! Without those two guys and their hard work along with all of the people that pioneered the first races there I don't think we'd be having USAC there this week! No matter the price, this will be one to remember! This place is a racey SOB! Be prepared to have your heart skip a few beats! Joe

I think a midget race at VRP, sanctioned by the BCRA, scheduled on black Friday would be a heck of a show.

I wish that I could be there. I've heard that the track and the racing are great. I hope that the show is well attended so that they can have more USAC/CRA events. Up here in rainy old Portland we still have 2 months until our first race. I'm jealous of you guys.

Actually I was surprised at the prices too. Last year general admission was $10. I was told earlier this week that general admission was $12 by the person who operates the Victorville Raceway Facebook page . Turns out it is $20, which is double last year and $8 more than I was told. And since I live out of state I can't get the $10 tickets at the Napa stores. Darn...

$10 was/is the admission for the reg. show's. This will be the first time USAC has been there. Having to pay the fee I didn't think we would be so lucky!

You're still ahead on this deal, no fee for parking. Go to Google maps and get directions, then look at what the mileage is. It compares very nicely with the PAS for everyone except for Turn4rob.
