Talked to Michelle Decker this morning and it is true. She is going to let me know about the arrangements and I will post them here.

This is so sad. One of the main car owners that nobody really talked about or praised for all the years that he owned/sponsored race cars at Fairgrounds Speedway. Not sure when he started (first I remember was Richard Windle) but maybe somebody can post here.
Before he got where he couldn't walk up the stairs, him and the rest of the Strawn family would sit just to my right each and every Friday night and once he knew I was a regular (about 1984) he would always stop and shake my hand and say hello.
If there was an Oklahoma Racing Hall of Fame, he should be one of the first elected in the car owner catagory.
R.I.P. Mr. Strawn

Don was a friend, a customer and a mentor to me and I already miss him greatly. Oklahoma dirt track racing has lost one of its greatest suporters ever. Some day I will try to count all the many drivers he helped to start or get to the next level. It was a lot. I will miss his wit and dry humor. Sometimes his running comentary was the best part of friday nite racing!
Thanks Don, God speed. My prayer is that your family will be granted the peace from God that surpasses all understanding. Eric Casperson

David's right. Don was a good man and a wonderful supporter of local racers.

Don was really an automotive icon before he ever got into racing at the Fairgrounds back in the 80's.
Drag Racing was his passion for years with the Tiajuana Taxi, all the Camaros and all the other cars.
Vans like the Warlord, Warlord II, and the "Monster Truck" Dodge van from back in the 70's before Bigfoot was ever thought of.
Everyone on this board knows how much he did in regards to the sport of dirt track racing whether it was Champ Dirt,Super Modified,Sprint Cars, & Pro Stocks.
Just like the sport of auto racing in Oklahoma City will never be the same without the fair grounds track, Life in Eastern Okla County for a lot of people will not be the same without Don.
My prayers go out to all the family, friends and loved ones of Don .
Mitch

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Strawn family.
This indeed is sad news for the racing community, Mr. Strawn was an icon of State Fair Speedway.
Godspeed Don,

Nice turnout, everybody who made it to the service.
I thought First Baptist of Choctaw did a really good job & the ringing of the church bells 80 times for Don's 80 years was something different I hadn't seen (heard) done at a memorial service before.
The procession route went down 23rd right past Strawn's Corner.
Michelle Decker & James Beane had the race cars on display alongside the Strawn Drilling Rigs & the checkered flags.
It was quite a sight. A really nice tribute to a man and a family who mean a lot to a LOT of people .
