WINDY AND COLD, BUT THE RACING WAS HOT!

The Galpin Ford Challenge Cup and the Arizona Sprint Cars took to the race track Friday night on a cold windy night. However, the racing action heated up quickly. At the start of the A main event, John Brinkley jumped a right rear tire and slammed hard into the outside wall halting the racing action. Trey Deane also ran over a car when the yellow came out and turned his ride over. Neither car returned, and both drivers were ok. Once the racing resumed, Paul Norbury jumped to the early lead with both Jeff Henry and Jay Ervine chasing close behind.

Henry and Ervine were swapping second place for several laps until Ervine’s car broke. That left Henry by himself to chase down Norbury. Henry closed on Norbury in the closing laps, but Norbury drove a great race and crossed the checkered flag about a car length ahead of Henry.

The top 10 where very close the entire race, with great side by side racing going on thought out the field. Behind Henry at the checkered flag was Brian Swinehart, Bruce St. James, Brian Hacker, Hank Logue, Tim Beal, Dennis Krob, Derrik Ortega, and Jody Wirth rounding out the top ten. The Galpin Ford series and the Arizona Sprint Cars have races 5 times this year, and there has been 5 different winners. The next race for the Galpin Ford series at Prescott Valley Raceway is May 18th, and the next race for the Arizona Sprint Cars and the Galpin Ford series is May 26th at Canyon Raceway.
