I don't know Sammy but I do know this...Kinser gets up in the seat when he and Sammy are going at it on the track and that's all I need to know as a fan...and when Sammy puts a local car in the wall...I boo him and take his shirt off my back and throw it down across the grandstand.
be glad both of them are still healthy and racing at the top of their game...because the rest of the travelers are not near the level of rivalry or excitement that electrifies the crowd when two cars are trading slide jobs.

Sammy isn't the most electrifying interview ever. News flash!
Who cares?
The complainers didn't pay $30 to watch him... they didn't pay $30 to go visit him in the pits and get 45 minutes of face time... so what does their 2 cent opinion mean?
You pay ticket price to watch races. People that pay ticket prices to go bother racers after their day of work... are confused. If you paid your ticket price for an electrifying victory lane speech... seriously, go become a wrestling fan. Become a MMA fanatic. There's enough whining with the "fans" of this sport... we'll live without you.
Guaranteed.

My biggest problem with Sammy is not his interview skills. You guys are correct, I really do not care how well a person does during an interview. No one has ever claimed that Steve Kinser has a golden tounge. He can trip over his words during an interview with the best of them.
My problem with Sammy is his entire body of work. Sammy is the same driver that a couple years ago on national TV got upset that one of the PA locals would dare to put a slide job on his in the C main and repaid the favor by putting the local into the front wall. Sammy is the same guy who got upset someone would race him rough at I-30 and decided to try to wreck him during a yellow and had to be thrown off the track. He is the same guy who went to the last ASCS race at Vegas and again was a jerk. He is the same guy who talked trash during an ASCS race victory lane interveiw and got into a fight in victory lane. He drives everyone rough, but complains like a baby when anyone returns the favor. He is the same guy who hid in the back of his souvineer trailer this year at the Knoxville nationals because he did not want to deal with the fans.
Now add to the mix that everytime he gives an interview, he comes accross as an arrogant know it all. Who always has a complaint. Who never has done anything wrong but everyone has done him worng. Who never has anything gracious to say about anyone. Who generally shows no excitment for what he does, and rarely shows any appreciation to the fans. Wrap the entire package up, and this is why I do not like Sammy.
Please don't tell me that away from the races, he is a great guy because I really do not care because I don't interact with him away from the track. Please don't tell me me that he is very focused at the track because every other driver out there is focused as well. Please don't tell me that I am jilted because he was rude to me or would not sign an autograph for me, because I have never asked any driver for an autograph. I am smart enough to look at the entire package and realize that while he is at the track being a race car driver that is not a nice person. This is why I dislike him.

I have seen sammy race.. and he does race dirty and complains when its redirected back at him.. but i had the chance to talk to sammy at Knoxville during the friday rain delay this past year by his t-stirt trailer.. lets just say it changed my whole perception about him as a person.. i never used to be a fan of sammy until this night.. i chatted with him for about a half an hour about anything.. and the last thing i told him was i hope to see you in victory lane saturday night.. the last words out of his mouth was i hope to visit with you after the races.. i agree that off the track he is a great guy, but on the track yes he does race dirty.. but its just like Husets Speedway when T-Mac raced there, some love him and some hate him, the people that love him will pay to see him win and the people that hate him will pay to see him get beat... brings fans to the racetrack

Well.......I have been reading these posts for the last week or so and wasn't goimg to comment. However I just can't sit here and read this ridiculous sh%t anymore!
Sammy don't care what you (people) think, yes, sometimes it is obvious. I have been a fan since around 1985 and even to this day I can walk right up to Sam and carry on a conversation, not sure why you folks have any problems talking or relating to him, but if you have the attitude and demeanour as you do here, I wouldn't talk to you either. At the race track (during race) is the worst time to talk to any of the drivers, crew, car owner and officials unless you are a driver, crew member or an official.
Sammy is aggressive, not a dirty driver. Although I will say I wished as a fan he would have done some things differently, but the same can be said about myself too. We are not perfect.
Fact is, Sammy is a know it all.....or as close as you could get to it......about Sprint car racing that is.
Sammy has mentored many drivers over the years, including his son, Kevin.
Sammy has been instrumental to this sport and has contributed about as much as anyone else
Hard to show excitement when you have been winning and racing for over 40 years.
Wrap the entire package up, and this is why I like Sammy.
The older I get, the faster I used to be.

Sammy is aggressive ,,he's not a dirty drive ,,Now that's good s#!t he's a jerk on and off the track ,he's got way more driving skill than 95% of the drivers out there and still choose to just stuff or fun over over a guy rather than race him hard ,,all the Sammy fans can call bulls#!t but its a FACT ,and to say he owes nothing to Joe blow the fan is just dumb in the end racing is all about the fans ,the fans pay for these guys to make a living driving racecar ,,,NO fans No races

I look at it this way...I would rather hear a driver such as Sammy or any other driver for that matter, tell it like it is and say what he really means then hear some polished, politically correct bullshit that does nothing but satisfy a microphone's need to make noise. Much like you would see in other forms of racing that we won't mention in this forum.
