As Excelr8r and I talked over the roast beast at the Christmas table this year, I casually mentioned that the IRA is taking it back "old school" this year, making a stop at the Sheboygan County Fairground for the fair, Labor Day Weekend 2011.

We talked about the great times at the fair, the Eastern guys running the fair back in the day and I can remember them or the IRA running the fair in the late 90's or early 00's. As we talked, the conversation turned to cost, not for the racer, but the fan.

The Sheboygan County fair is a great fair, but it costs a little bit and if you throw on an IRA pricetag, it becomes a little pricey:

Parking: 5 bucks a car (this can be minimized by parking on the street and walking)

Fair Admission: I think this was 8 bucks for an adult

Race: Anywhere from 15-20 bucks for an adult

So the total pricetag for 1 adult (less if you bring a car full) is: 5+8+15 = 28 bucks.

Did we miss something here?

Seems a little steep, however, if you walk in and spend the day at the fair, it would be a little less painfull (of course, you then have food, drinks and rides to contend with!).

Not being a stick in the mud, I think this is a great idea and a true sprint car fan will support this (which is why we are tentitively scheduled to come up and see the fair and race that weekend).

Good news, I assure you that the combined cost of Fair adm, parking, and race ticket will not exceed the cost of a regular IRA show at Plymouth. So you get the parking, race ticket, AND Fair admission for what you typically pay (around $18 total). It can be LESS depending upon where you choose to park as there will be FREE shuttles. Fair Admission is $5, Parking won't exceed $3, and Race Ticket is yet to be determined but likely $8-$10 range.... combined total NOT to exceed $18, and possibly as low as $13 TOTAL Expense.

IRA has headlined the Kenosha County Fair the past several years with a TOTAL combined cost of $13.....

I look at both of these as great events for the both the fan and racer.

I guess the only issue I see is Manitowoc is running their Season Championship night including MSA sprint cars on the same night as IRA is at the fair. Just hope the fan count is not split causing each track to suffer.

Is the IRA show at Plymouth a sprint car only show? Imagine the fair wants a quick show to get everyone out to spend some $$ in the fair.

I was pumped to see ira at the fair next year, and to hear the ticket price is roughly going to be the same is even better.I hope this becomes a yearly deal.Manitowoc is a 2 night show so fans can go to both.We can only hope there won't be any fender support classes there that night because I'm sure there will be threatening weather and a 27 min 25 lap grand national feature to give us a 13 lap A main.If you've been there before you know what I mean.

Looking forward to the IRA at the Shebco. Fair! Although, I'm a little disappointed 'cause I guess this means no chance of a washed up 80's hair metal band or a one hit wonder country singer on Saturday night of the fair. Maybe, instead of support classes, they could have REO Speedwagon come out between races and at intermission? Was so hoping for a Nelson or Vixen reunion show at the fair. I guess I can settle for a sprint show instead. Oh well, there's always Brat Days! lol
