I've seen it happen twice. He flat out put on a clinic. In all honesty the majority of the 360 mods at Outlaw are not as fast as some will make you think. The majority out there just don't have a whole lot of car. There are a few that have had dang good cars but most have moved on up to A mod

I wouldnt say it was a "clinic", but when i say him run at outlaw, he ran 3rd and was very competitive. I think he said he just change to a holley 4 barrel and that was it. Big motors were tearing him up from the flag stand on, but in the corner and off, he was fast. Track was pretty slick!

On paper ther is no way a sport mod can compete with a 360 mod.
|
I would agree on paper. The fact is that the 360 class should have only been a transition class for a year or two. Racers should have moved up to Amod or down to sportmod.

My point is that Sport mods are the fastest growing class. They are a promoters dream with a weekly purse that the class pays itself. Why in the world would you want to change the rules? Unless you want to make it to where a guy can only race at your track and no where else. Every racer I talk to his biggest complaint about racing in general is that there is no uniform rules from track to track and we had that for the most part in our class. I don't want it to change. I like the idea of being able to go wherever I want to race and be on equal footing.

NCRA said today that there is no change in the 2011 rules for sportmods. I just wish everyone else would post their rules so we would know. I got stuck with 8 six groove tires last year because of a last minute (after the first play day) rule change.
By the way, anyone want to buy 8 six groove hoosers?

Per the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Website: Limited modified rules must meet current IMCA southern sport mod rules.
