We have the most popular class in the nation and growing by leaps and bounds. Most tracks across the nation run the IMCA rules or something very similar. Now we have our jack ass Oklahoma promotors thinking they are smarter than everyone else and are going to make up rules in the off season so that their rules are different than everyone elses across the nation.

Brill talking about going to Methanol. That is just plain stupid. If you can't figure out how to keep ur car cool then park the piece of shit. Gonna cost big bucks to switch to Methanol. Carb, pump, bypass, fuel cell, etc... and please don't tell me it doesn't make anymore power. It for sure does make more torque and power.

Talk about some tracks eliminating the compression rule because somebodys starter turns their motor over fasters than somebody elses. Please, the rule is 175, if ur 176 then ur illegal and disqualified.

Elk city talking about changing some of the suspension rules.

This class got popular because it was a cheap way to race. Motors rules were such that a guy could race and be competitive making a normal wage. We had hard tires and stock suspension so it left most of the

racing to the driver and not his pocket book. I think thats about to change. Promotors need to enforce the rules before, during, and after the race.

I believe that most of the proposed rule changes are due to the promotor not wanting the mess with checking cars at the end of the night.

Amen brother Every one needs to let these promotors know how you feel about this. We want southern type sportmods not northern.

Oh come on Kenny I think the Sportmods or e-mods need a big ole 5x5 wing on top with a ASCS right rear tire

Well Elk didnt change anything . Glad that Dee Dee did what the racers wanted to do. So Elk and Clinton when it runs is still IMCA 2010.

The class is already ruined , every place you go you have ppl pullin sportmods out of toter homes . Makes it pretty hard for the little guy to do good , but it makes ya smile when u beat em .
winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

You are 100% percent correct.

Until promoters decide to tech cars then you will see the classes do what they always do in Oklahoma. Start of with good intentions but before you know it you have to take a 2nd mortgage on your home to race in the class.

well when does this new 602 crate motor with the imca thing go into affect because if and when it does us guys who really do race paycheck to paycheck are in a world of hurt because if im not mistaken these motors have vortec heads on them which blows our wonderful pos eq heads out of the water and we will be the sitting ducks so if we are worried about oklahoma promotors messing everything up maybe we should try to figure out why this is the motor they picked for the sport mod class to begin with and second there are so many ways around that stupid sealed motor thing that money is going to continue to run things cause all they got to do is get some new bolts from gm and bam they have six inch rods lightweight crank and win everywhere they go then they get teched and uh duuhhh i dont know its sealed how is that possible and cheating continues to prevail so in my eyes if our guys are allowed to run with them when they do come from all over and btw i dont usually see that but if we are allowed to run with them i would love to take my 1500 to 2000 dollar motor carb to oil pan and at least have a chance because of the methanol or so on so what if they are not trying to hurt but still make it feasable against this new motor.......................jmo something to think about

You can run either or in Imca plus the guys that run a crate motor will have a rev limiter set at 6200 . But how many tracks around here really run Imca rules a few have started the season that way then just opened them up . I agree Joey it just makes it tougher on all of us , but all we can do is keep diggin . We will just have to see a limited 602 against a normal sport mod motor

Kenny, I love the "Uncle A" style post. You hit the nail on the head, and I could not have said it better.

Why do all promoters feel the need to have success at "their track" is to come up with Rules that only apply at "their track". Most all of these tracks are experiencing low Car Counts, and low Grandstand participation. So to set rules that are all separate only gives the Racers one of three choices:

(1) Race at our track

(2) Travel weekly (expensive for the average racer)

(3) Get out of Racing, and go fishing

It also leaves the fans (grandstands) left out. Race fans in general are also on a budget and cannot afford to travel to watch their favourite driver.

The reality of it is like Kenny said, Auto Racing in Oklahoma is slowly being killed by the Promoters. I'm thinking of starting a new organisation called POO (Promoters of Oklahoma) so we can meet and try to figure out the best way to keep our racers and fans from being able to afford and support racing in Oklahoma.

602 crate engine with 4 barrel carb makes less horsepower (about 20 hp) than the original sportmod engine.

My point is that Sport mods are the fastest growing class. They are a promoters dream with a weekly purse that the class pays itself. Why in the world would you want to change the rules? Unless you want to make it to where a guy can only race at your track and no where else. Every racer I talk to his biggest complaint about racing in general is that there is no uniform rules from track to track and we had that for the most part in our class. I don't want it to change. I like the idea of being able to go wherever I want to race and be on equal footing.

Outlaw and Salina seem to be starting to lean on going w/ the sportmods here in eastern oklahoma. They are allowing them to race w/ the 360 mods for now. I believe their are going to be quite a few of them built over the next year or two and would anticipate them taking over the 360 class w/in the next 2 or 3 years. They are sticking to the IMCA southern sportmod rules.

A Southern sport mod has no chance running against the 360 mods at outlaw and Salina with there rules. I would bet Randy Timms (the worlds greatest driver) could not stay on the lead lap in a caution free feature.

Kyle Slader came in and put a whoopin on the 360's the 2x's he brought his sportmod out to Outlaw.

On paper ther is no way a sport mod can compete with a 360 mod.
