Back in '86 these were our "Boys Of Summer" in the Kansas, Oklahoma, North Texas corridor.

Before you discount these guys as a bunch of old fuddie-duddies, you might want to take a look at the lineup, you probably heard of a few of these names. I'm starting to think this concept could have boosted the USAC class back to a higher national prominence. But, the NCRA was headed to sprint cars.

Some are dead, some are still racing, and some are in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame. This is the only known footage, and fewer than 10,000 people have seen the 'incident', until now. My first time was a month ago, but I heard about it the day after it happened.

We did the story here about a month ago on oklahomatidbits forum, and it adds to the "why" this was such a battle , and more than just a race. Sometimes a race is more than "just a race".

I'll go past the opening night to save you time, as well as the opening consy races. They are all in the link posted above.

I will only throw in the A Feature on the final night. The first part shows the "incident" between Rich Vogler and Jon Johnson at the end of that clip

Part 1- That's Gary Bettenhausens #12 'black' car you're seeing on the youtube stillscreen.

and part 3

looks like Larry Rice is in the lead. Vogler is hovering around in the top 3, waiting to move forward again.
