FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MIKE KIRBY SET TO CHALLENGE PERRIS LATE MODEL STARS!
(MAY 1, 2007, PERRIS, CA) Competition in the Art's Concrete Pumping Extreme Late Models class at Perris Auto Speedway is about to get a lot tougher as former USAC/CRA Sprint Car star Mike Kirby is throwing his hat into the tough ring of competition. The Late Models will head this Saturday's show at The PAS and the California Lightning Sprint Cars, Street Stocks and the Pick-A-Part Cruisers will join them. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:30.
Kirby, who turned 41 today (May 1st) is going to take a serious stab at the Late Model competition. On Sunday morning, Kirby took delivery of the powerful 410 engine that Blake Miller drove to a third place finish in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car main event some 10 hours earlier at The PAS. Miller qualified for the USAC/CRA race on Saturday with a 17.356. That time was just a couple clicks slower than Kelly Boen's all time PAS Late Model track record of 17.063.
Kirby and crew have been in a thrash since the engine arrived in hopes of getting the car ready for this Saturday's race on the Riverside County clay oval.
Kirby has won three of the first four Modified main events at The PAS this season. For the record, he won the last ever full season championship in the original CRA in 1993, he won three NASCAR Figure 8 championships at J.C. Agajanian's legendary Ascot Park where the Harbor, the San Diego and the 91 freeways used to slide in Gardena and he has a total of 61 Sprint Car Main event wins on the west coast.
Kirby will encounter good friends Nick, Bill and Ron Bartels when he makes his PAS Late Model debut. Nick, of El Segundo, California, holds a precarious 10-point lead over his grandfather Bill, of Marina Del Rey, California, in the season long point standings. Ron, who is Bill's son and Nick's father, - have you got all of that straight? - will also be on hand on Saturday and he led the PAS Late Model contingent in main event wins in 2006.
Henry Wesolowski Sr. of Temecula, California returns to The PAS after an interesting evening two weeks ago. Wesolowski had something break in his MC Builders Super Stock and hit the turn four wall head and saw his car literally go up in flames. "Haulin' Henry" was none the worse for wear and drove to a 15th place finish in the Street Stock main. However, the 2006 PAS Street Stock champion relinquished the point lead to Torrance, California's Kenny Mann. Moreno Valley, California's Curtis Dietzsch, who won the main event two weeks ago, trails Mann by four points and Riverside, California's Jim Coates is only seven points behind in third.
The winged California Lightning Sprint Cars, who have provided numerous stars to the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series including Mike Spencer who is currently second in USAC/CRA points, will be making their second exciting appearance of 2007 at The PAS. The crazy Pick-A-Part Cruisers will round out Saturdays show.
Saturday's gasoline and methanol adrenalin fueled frenzy will include qualifying for the Late Models and heat races and main events for all of the classes.

PRESS RELEASE, JOHN PADJEN MOTORSPORTS, ROSEVILLE CALIFORNIA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2007 MEDIA CONTACT: BILL SULLIVAN
Civil War point standings expected to shuffle this Saturday in 2nd series event at Placerville Speedway; the “Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds”
With series point leader’s appearance uncertain, new faces are sure to advance
By Bill SullivanPLACERVILLE, CA (5-5-07) – This Saturday night the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Series heads back to Placerville Speedway for a very special night of racing, the fourth annual “Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds.” This event pays tribute to the late Al Hinds, the early track promoter who brought the small town of Placerville and the sport auto racing together at Placerville Speedway.
Saturday’s race will be the highest paying regular Civil War Series event on the 15-race tour that visits five different tracks this season. With five events at Placerville Speedway, the competitive quarter mile dirt track located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds is considered the home base for this competitive race series for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars. Entering the second round of the series, Fairmount Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer currently leads the series point standings following his opening night victory at Placerville Speedway last month. Since that cool spring evening, Wimmer has been quite the subject of conversation among area race fans and competitors. The 20 year old college student who has already been a full time figure in the nationally recognized World of Outlaws series has dominated the action at Placerville Speedway as the new hired gun for the Shammi Kumar owned #1K sprint car . Wimmer has not only won the Civil War opener but followed suit with a controversial win in the Golden State Challenge Series here the following week and most recently won a feature event in the weekly championship series last Saturday night. Following his victory last Saturday night, Wimmer and his team were uncertain of the week to come. Although they lead the point standings in the Civil War Series, their season long commitment remains with the 410 sprint car posse of the Golden State Challenge Series that will be competing at Ocean Speedway. Wimmer’s appearance here last Saturday was merely due to the fact the team’s 410 motors were still undergoing repair and were not ready for the Tulare GSC event. While the point leading team and Wimmer’s destination remains uncertain in the coming week, race fans can expect to see 40 or more of California’s most talented open wheel drivers gather on the high banks of Placerville Speedway Saturday night charging towards the front in an effort to steal the $3,000 bounty .The inflated victory includes a $1000 bonus from Family Chevrolet Cadillac of Shingle Springs. Additional bonuses known at this time include $100 from DSR Graphics and Signs of Cameron Park to the fast qualifier and another $100 from M&M Racing Videos of Madera to the 13th quickest driver of the night. Additional sponsorships are expected to be announced throughout the week. With the point leader’s entry remaining questionable, Saturday’s race could see a significant shift in the series point standings. The driver closest to Wimmer in the standings is Rohnert Park’s Brett Rollag who sits just three points out of the lead following a podium finish in the series opener. This season Rollag is aboard the competitive Rick Williams owned #6 car, his first hired ride of his career and the combination appears perfect so far with a top five finish and a heat race win already on their chart for the series. Rollag was in contention at Placerville last Saturday night, gearing for this week’s event as he sets his sights on the 2007 series title. Defending three time Civil War Series Champion Andy Forsberg of Auburn is now third in the series point standings. After joining Wimmer and Rollag on the podium in the season opener, Forsberg is just five points from the lead position and his hungry for his first series win of the season at the track her calls home and earned the name “Mr. Excitement” for his many wins and on the edge driving style. Placerville’s own Scott Russell is fourth in the standings, just one point behind Forsberg. Russell has a successful series opener as well with a top five feature event finish. Although Russell’s first goal for the season is the Placerville weekly championship a win in Saturday’s race would be a highlight on his racing resume and very special to him as well. Russell is a native of El Dorado County and knew Hinds personally in the early years of his sprint car racing career. Hinds was a fan of many local drivers like Russell and at often times a trusted source of advice when it came to the tricks of car set up and engine tuning. Dan Menne rounds out the top five in the series point standings, just 7-points out of the lead. Menne is expected to be on hand with the likes of fellow top ten drivers Mike Benson, Scott Kinney, Carl Droivold and Mark Tabor Sr. Colby Wiesz, the bridesmaid to the championship last season will be looking to advance into the top ten along with former series champions C.J. Humphreys of Placerville, Mike Henry of Sacramento and Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove who are just a few of the top names expected. Action is set to begin on Saturday night with qualifying at 6:30. The grandstands will open at 5 p.m. Adult tickets will be $15, Juniors will be $10, Children will be $4 and under six will be admitted for free. Early arrival to the speedway is recommended as this race routinely sells out early in the evening and all seating is general admission. This article is the second in a series that will be issued throughout the coming week exclusively on johnpadjenmotorsports.com taking an inside look at this very special night of racing. For California’s competitive Civil War Race Series. For any further information call the track business office at (916) 969-7484 or visit www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com.

CHICO, CA (4-30-07) - This Friday night, May 4, the first Ashley Furniture driver Autograph night will start at 5 pm in front of the main grandstands at the Silver Dollar Speedway. Many of the top drivers racing at Silver Dollar Speedway will be on hand for this unique chance to meet them before the races. Drivers scheduled to appear will be San Jose driver Jason Statler, Auburn’s Andy Forsberg and current point leader Jonathan Allard of Chico. Statler, Allard and Forsberg are the top three drivers currently in the point standings. Others scheduled to appear include dirt-modified driver Mark Abouzeid, wingless spec driver’s Taylor Simas and Justin Funkhouser.
Other top ranked sprint car drivers include Grass Valley’s Brad Sweet, Chico’s Brett Miller, Stephen Allard and Kevin Sharrah. Most drivers will have free autograph cards to hand out to the fans that arrive early and brand new t-shirts for sale. The autograph session will last from 5 pm until 6 pm. At 6 pm the drivers need to leave and get back to the pit area to suit up for hot laps.

This whole autograph session is the brainchild of Robert Myers, the President and CEO of Ashley Furniture Home Stores. “I wanted a way to get the fans a chance to see these drivers before the races and maybe connect more with them,” said Myers. “Plus this sport has the best fans and we thought this was a good way to let the drivers give something back to them.” The first driver autograph session took place last August and had good success. Myers driver will be the spotlight of the afternoon. Chico’s Fast Eddy Lewis has been Ashley Furniture’s sprint car driver for three seasons. Lewis will be there with most of his crew. Also attending will be the Blaze 103.5 fm truck with popular on-air talent J.T. handling the interviews of drivers and getting the fans riled up.
Also, once racing starts, the good folks at Ashley Furniture will be giving away another free drawing for a mattress. The fans will receive a coupon once they enter the grandstands. The drawing will take place later in the night.
Three racing divisions will be on hand for point race number six during the Feather Falls Casino championship series. The 410-winged sprint cars, dirt modifieds and wingless spec sprints will race on the quarter-mile clay oval.
May 4th will be the first of three scheduled autograph sessions. The next Ashley Furniture night will take place June 8th and will feature an hour autograph chance. Drivers that will attend the next autograph night include Johnny Gray, Andy Gregg, Sean Becker, Willie Croft and Zack Mason. A different rotation of drivers will be at each session.

PRESS RELEASE, JOHN PADJEN MOTORSPORTS, ROSEVILLE CALIFORNIA FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, TUESDAY, MAY 1, 2007 MEDIA CONTACT: BILL SULLIVAN Defending champion Forsberg poised to become only second two-time winner of Placerville Speedway “Family Chevrolet Tribute to Al Hinds” Two former series champions Mike Henry, Greg DeCaires are among the many expected entries By Bill Sullivan PLACERVILLE, CA (5-5-07) – In the four year history of the annual Family Chevrolet “Tribute to Al Hinds” at Placerville Speedway, only two different drivers have had the privilege of hoisting the giant check worth $3,000 in victory lane. Roger Crockett of Medford, Oregon and Andy Forsberg of Auburn, both former series champions that have been friendly rivals since the start of their racing careers and have always been known to rub elbows in any competition in which they both enter. Entering Saturday night, Crockett remains the only two-time winner of the prestigious race that features a $1,000 bonus to the winner courtesy of Tony Montalbano, the owner of Family Chevrolet-Cadillac located in nearby Shingle Springs. This week however, Forsberg will have the first opportunity to match his career rival if all the cards fall in his favor of the A&A Motorsports #92 team and he was aboard last season for his first win in the annual Tribute to Al Hinds event and eventually the Civil War Series championship. “This is a pretty special night for everyone at Placerville,” said Forsberg. “Its really great that Family Chevrolet and Mr. Montalbano support this sport with this event every year and last year I was lucky enough to win that bonus. We’re still looking for our first Civil War win this year and this race would be a great time to do it.” In 2006, Forsberg’s victory in the Hinds’ event was one of three feature victories he claimed in the weather-shortened series that consisted of only 11 events. While many critics thought the shortened schedule worked as an advantage to top drivers, Forsberg will be the first one to admit that was not the case as the title remained up for grabs until the final feature event of the series at Placerville. Despite dominating the point standings all season long, Forsberg’s championship came with a combination of success and luck in the final season opener. Success in the direction of Forsberg throughout the final night and poor luck falling on his closest contender Colby Wiesz of Colfax with a flat tire and an unwanted pit stop in the final race of the night. “We had a great year but we had our struggles too,” said Forsberg following his championship claim last year. “This series is so competitive and really it came down to a pill draw and luck good and bad for both Colby and us on the last night.” For Forsberg, the domination of the 2006 Civil War Series was berthed in the wake of his victory of the Tribute to Al Hinds event. This Saturday the driver known as “Mr. Excitement” is looking for a repeat victory, not only for a thicker wallet, but also for momentum in the events to come as May is one of the busiest months of the Civil War. Three events take place in a four-week span at three different racetracks, two of which take place just a day apart over the three day Memorial Day weekend. Momentum can be a key ingredient for a team and this Saturday night it could begin for Forsberg and nearly 40 of California’s best drivers. Drivers joining Forsberg on Saturday night include Rohnert Park’s Brett Rollag. Rollag currently ranks second in the series standings and is amidst the strongest season of his racing career aboard the Rick Williams owned #6, Rollag sits poised to possibly assume the point lead as he sits just 3-points behind current leader Brandon Wimmer of Fairmount Indiana. Wimmer’s destination for the coming weekend will not be officially known or announced until mid week as the team did commit to the 2007 Golden State Challenge Series that competes at Ocean Speedway this Saturday and such plans rely on the completion of their 410 motors this week. If Wimmer is present or not, Rollag is in a very good position to advance after his recent visit to Placerville last week which was an opportunity to tune the car for Saturday’s money race. Placerville’s own Scott Russell sits behind Forsberg, fifth in the standings and is just 6 points way from the lead and ahead of Dan Menne of Fort Jones, Mike Benson of Calistoga, Scott Kinney of Citrus Heights and Carl Droivold of Grass Valley. Wiesz and the FnF Race Team are currently ranked 12th in the point standings. With three successful nights at Placerville this season Wiesz and the team are also in a good position to advance as they compete on the track they call home along with one time Placerville Speedway winner C.J. Humphreys of Placerville. Former two-time series champion Mike Henry of Sacramento has confirmed his entry into Saturday’s event. Henry is currently 14th in the point standings and will arrive in Placerville with the momentum of three recent feature victories at Ocean Speedway and Petaluma in weekly events. One of Henry’s priorities for the 2006 season is to win a Civil War event at Placerville Speedway, a feat he has never accomplished despite numerous weekly wins on the foothill bullring. With the added winnings, Saturday’s event would be even more meaningful to Henry who will pilot the Werbach Motorsports #20 out of San Jose. Joining former series champions Forsberg and Henry will be Elk Grove’s Greg DeCaires who won the Civil War title in 2005 and won the Placerville Championship last season. Next season DeCaires will part ways with his car owner John Taylor to join a new team that will return to the Golden State Challenge Series. Therefore, a win in Saturday’s event would be an excellent trophy for DeCaires to share with Taylor as the duo is one of the most respected teams in competition today. This article is the third in a series that will be issued throughout the coming week exclusively on johnpadjenmotorsports.com taking an inside look at this very special night of racing. For California’s competitive Civil War Race Series. For any further information call the track business office at (916) 969-7484 or visit www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com.

Press Release, Golden State Challenge Series
For Immediate Release Hot GSC points race heads to Ocean Speedway
By Gary Thomas
Watsonville, CA - May 2, 2007... Just 10 points separate the top three drivers in the series standings as the Golden State Challenge Series gets set to invade the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville for Round #10 this Saturday. This will be the first stop of the season for GSC to the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds 1/4 mile bullring after raining out the first scheduled race at the track on April 14. After becoming promoter last season, John Prentice has reinvigorated the speedway and facility to a point where it’s one of the fastest rising dirt tracks in the state. Following the date this Saturday, the Golden State Challenge Series will make two more stops at the Ocean Speedway. The dates are Friday June 1 and Friday July 20. Be sure to get out to the Ocean Speedway this season because you’ll be in for a treat.
Oroville’s Sean Becker continues to lead the Golden State Challenge Series point standings driving for the Fisher Main-Motorsports, Cherry St. Mini Storage, Rolling Hills Reality No. 35m team. Becker scored his series leading seventh top five finish of the season last Saturday in Tulare with a fourth place drive at the Central, CA located Thunderbowl Raceway. "The Shark’s" best career finish at the Ocean Speedway is a third, which came in July of 2005.
The hottest driver right now in West Coast sprint car racing, however, is Campbell’s Brent Kaeding who has won three consecutive Golden State Challenge Series main events and comes into the Ocean Speedway, a track he has many wins at, just two digits behind Becker. BK drove the Al’s Roofing Supply, Kaeding Performance, Williams Roofing No. 69 to his 73rd career GSC win last Saturday in Tulare and garnered his first quick time of the year. The 12-time King of California has also won twice and has one second place finish in the first three Wright One Construction 360 winged sprint car races at Ocean Speedway this season.
Defending King of California Jonathan Allard of Chico sits just 10 points back of Becker for the lead, and eight behind Kaeding for second in the GSC standings. Allard’s Williams Motorsports, GT Trends, K & N Filters team debuted a brand new ‘07 Maxim Chassis last weekend and he drove it to a third place finish in Tulare, his best result with GSC since the season opening Mini Gold Cup where he posted finishes of first and third. Allard’s lone win at Ocean Speedway came at the Trophy Cup in 2000 when he drove the Bill Owen’s 8b sprinter to victory in the Saturday night main event.
Currently ranking fourth in the GSC standings is the driver of the Tom Rolfe Trucking, DF Rios Construction, Pheasant Run Shopping Center No. 10 of former King of California Jason Statler. The San Jose driver will look to rebound following a dnf last weekend in Tulare as he goes into the track where he came closest to winning at last year. Statler hasn’t won a GSC race since 2005 but came very close to winning the July Ocean Speedway date last season. "The Big Guy" started sixth in the feature that night and made a number of impressive moves to take the lead just after the midway point of the 30 lap contest. Statler appeared to be on his way to victory, but a last turn pass by Bud Kaeding prevented him from winning. Statler has experienced success at the bullring in the past and it’s the track he won his very first sprint car race at.
Sacramento’s Willie Croft comes into Ocean Speedway sitting fifth in the GSC points. The man known as "Double Down" has been the most improved driver this season with GSC having been fast at every event and has accumulating a pair of top five finishes and five top 10's in the first eight races aboard the Holey Smokes BBQ, LRB Manufacturing, Amerikote High Temp Coatings No. 29. Croft has always been known as a gasser and has become a more well rounded driver with the assistance of former NARC champion Rick Hirst this season. Last weekend in Tulare he started sixth in the feature, but mechanical woes put him out of the race before a lap was even completed.
Other drivers expected at Ocean Speedway include Ronnie Day from nearby Salinas, Grass Valley’s Brad Sweet, Chico’s Brett Miller, Fairmont, Indiana’s Brandon Wimmer, Tracy’s Jason Botsford, Gilroy’s Jon Maiwald, Discovery Bay’s Jim Skinner, Scotts Valley’s Evan Suggs, Fresno’s Mark Workentine, Redding’s Ric McCormick and more. If everything is set to go, expect to see Aussi Trevor Green make his GSC season debut this Saturday.
The front gate at Ocean Speedway opens at 4:30 pm with adult tickets costing $20 and children’s tickets $10. Racing is expected to start around 6.

Next Friday and Saturday all eyes on Northern California sprint car racing will be tuned into the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico for the annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. Although next Friday night’s Silver Dollar Speedway point race isn’t sanctioned by the Golden State Challenge Series, many of the top sprint car drivers in Northern California will be on hand battling for the $2,350 top prize. The evening will be sponsored by Fauver Race Ready Rentals and Fry’s metals.
The following night on May 12 is the cornerstone of the Golden State Challenge Series season, the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. The event will be capped off with a 40 lap main event and features the highest purse of any race during the GSC season. John and Robbie Padjen are throwing in an extra $1,000 to bring the normal $3,000 winning payday up to $4,000. Lap money is also up for grabs and pays the top three drivers each lap during the 40 lap feature and 12 lap B-main. The leader of a lap gets $50, second $30 and third $20. Each lap is sponsored individually and it costs a $100 to purchase a lap. For the availability of laps contact the Durica family at D & D Roofing: 916-988-5958.
Don’t forget that brand new Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial T-shirts will be available for purchase during the weekend. All the news and info on this big event will be released by Silver Dollar Speedway PR Man/Announcer guru Troy Hennig in the coming week.
