Michael Williams
The Oakley Kansas based 305 URSS driver had quite an up and down year for him. Started out the year with several good top ten runs and then hit a slump in the middle of the summer where he couldn't make anything work right. Finally July 30th he got the first win of his sprint car career that he had been chasing for 3 years now. That win came in Colby Kansas for the Thomas county fair and night one of the URSS speedweeks. This started a very good finish to the year as he went on to several top 5 runs and another win in Dodge city running non wing. He ran 3 nights with NESQUICK non wing sprint getting 1 win and 2 2nd places. He really loves this non-wing racing and wishes they would do more of that in the 2011 season. He rounded out the year with 2 wins, 5 top 5's and 10 top 10's.
In points he was 4th in Colorado URSS regional points, 8th in URSS national points and 12th in NESQUICK non wing points in Dodge City Kasas. He considers this a very good sucessful year for him. His most memorable moments to the year is the big win at Colby Kansas and running 2nd in the 360 class at Calhan Colorado with his 305. To this day he thinks he should have won the race but still very happy with a 2nd place finish. Last year at the same race he led over half of the 360 race with his 305 to only spin out and end up with a 6th place finish.
He would like to thank all of his 2010 sponsors starting with L&R racing, Meranda Custom Harvesting, Smitty's Tire and Battery, Velocity Graphics, Zimmerman Agency, Baldwin Filters, Theresa and Arley Garner, Bryke Racing, Better Built Trailers, Geotz Trucking, Walts Repair, and McDonalds.
The 2011 season is right around the corner and can be open to many different options for him. He is now starting his campain for the great sponsor search. He has major hopes of being able to step up and run many ASCS and NCRA shows next year along with several URSS 305 shows and who knows maybe a few WoO shows when they come around Kansas. For any one interested in contacting Michael you can reach him at (785) 673 6162 or email him at [email protected]. He would greatly apreciate any help you have to offer.
