Slader Battles to Second O'Reilly NCRA Southern Modified Victory

by John Rittenoure

Muskogee, Oklahoma (October 9, 2010) - Kyle Slader fought his way to front in four laps then held on to win the O'Reilly NCRA Southern Modified main event Saturday at the Thunderbird Speedway. Slader, who also won at Thunderbird on August 7, took the lead from points leader Dustin Buntin after a restart for Ross McCartney who spun.

Friday night preliminary feature winner Todd Decker led the opening lap only to give way to Buntin on lap two. However Buntin was out front for only two laps before the yellow waved. On the restart Buntin suffered damage to his right front and came to stop. Buntin left on the hook and Slader took over for the remainder of the race to earn a $1,200 payday. Decker finished in second while Craig Ridgeway, Kevin Snow and Landon Maddox rounded out the top five.

The National Championship Racing Association would like to thank the following for their contribution and involvement with the southern modifieds for 2010: O'Reilly Auto Parts, Hoosier Racing Tire, Sunoco Race Fuels, Ramirez Motorsports and DIRT Performance Parts and Tires

The series would like to thank the following contingency partners with the southern mods for the 2010 race season. Arizona Sports Shirts, Bassett Wheels, DIRT Performance Parts and Tires, Hooker Harness, Pro Shocks, Racing Optics, Saldana Racing Products, Taylor Cable Products, The Joie of Seating and Ultra Shield.

The problem with muskogee is. Most sport mods don't have the gear to run the half mile without spending a thousand. Also you got to look they only had two local cars their. also, the pay droped fast. 1st . $1000 plus $200 bonus if race both nights 2nd. $600 3rd. $375 4th. $350. and $130 to start with a $50 entry fee

TO me it would have been better to run two $500 to win NCRA shows because, $25 entry fee per night and $100 to start each night. I know for a fact that seven of the ten cars would have not been their if it wasn't a NCRA show.

I dont agree with you at all. The Sport Mods at any other race track except muskogee is by far the biggest class around and they always put on a great show.

Well I can say this too. The Slader family were nice while we were ther, and they paid the payout. None of that good ole "well we only have ten cars so we only payin half". They stood by there word and paid. It was fun , good track, smooth. I wish it was not so far lol.
