Cody Morris, TULSA, OK (October 4 2010) - A seemingly endless countdown is drawing closer to its end, as the highly anticipated 3rd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals is less than 4 days away. Friday, October 8th will see the Lucas Oil ASCS2 EcoTec Midgets join their Outlaw, Non Wing, and Restricted division counterparts for what very well may be the largest two day open wheel spectacular in the south for the 2010 racing season.

The event will mark only the 3rd time of the 2010 campaign that all 4 Lucas Oil ASCS2 divisons have converged upon the same location in what is also the inaugural season of the new ASCS2 Ecotech Midgets. All four division will run a set of heats and qualifiers Friday, October 8th and conclude with Feature action Saturday, October 9th.

Collinsville, Oklahoma's young star Tyler Thomas undoubtedly leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 EcoTec Midgets into the 2 day event, having taken top honors in 3 of the four Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget contests in their inaugural season. Thomas swept both Lawton Speedway outings, as well as the inaugural 2010 contest at Creek County Speedway.

Glenpool, Oklahoma's Matt Ward also took Lucas Oil ASCS2 Midget honors at Creek County Speedway. Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Alex Sewell also enters the Texas two step with momentum just days after sweeping both the winged and non winged portions of the prestigious 11th Annual Pete Frazier Memorial at Port City Raceway. Sewell is expected to join Thomas and Ward in pulling double duty in ASCS2 Midget and Non Wing action.

In a heated season long points battle, Sapulpa, Oklahoma's Blake Hahn leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw division into the Cowtown fray a mere 4 points atop Norman, Oklahoma upstart Christopher Bell. Since a May 8th I-44 Speedway victory, the 2010 I-44 Mini Sprint Nationals and 2008 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted Champion has fended off repeated assaults from Bell, a two time feature winner this season, including in most recent Labor Day Weekend action at the famed Port City Raceway.

Pryor, Oklahoma's Frank "The Legendary" Flud enters the event third in the 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Championship Chase on the strength of two 2010 Outlaw triumphs, Flud is 53 markers off Blake Hahn’s leading pace.

While Christopher Bell threatens in the 2010 Outlaw division, he has been nothing short of spectacular in the always exciting Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Division. On the strength of a remarkable 8 Lucas Oil ASCS2 2010 Non Wing triumphs, including a recent sweep of a Labor Day Double at Port City Raceway, Bell leads Pauls Valley, Oklahoma's Steven Shebester by a stout 85 point margin.

Shebester has been strong himself in the 2010 Non Wing campaign, at one time closing the deficit to less than 15 points before bad luck struck in the first leg of Labor Day Weekend action at Port City Raceway. A Lucas Oil ASCS2 mid season winner at I-44 Speedway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma's Shelby Byrd enters the Cowtown Sprint Nationals 3rd in the 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing Championship Chase.

In a points battle that hardly existed in before the two most recent point events, West Plains, Missouri young ace Logan Martin leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted stars into a battle upon Cowtown Speedway's action track. A winner of four Lucas Oil ASCS2 2010 Restricted events, Martin has seen his point dwindle to a mere two points over Karley Kay Dobson. But a last lap turn 4 rock star slide job to attain Pete Frazier Memorial glory in recent October 2nd Port City Raceway competition could be just the spark that Martin has been looking for.

Hulbert, Oklahoma's teen sensation Karley Kay Dobson enters the Cowtown double riding a tsunami of success. Trailing Martin by over 120 points not too long ago, Dobson halved the deficit in successive attempts before immediately challenging after wins in two of her last 4 ASCS2 features. In a 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted campaign that has completed 17 events, Dobson has finished in the top ten in each of them, including 12 podium finishes and 2 wins.

A 4 time 2010 Restricted winner, Sand Springs, Oklahoma's young warrior Dalton Wisely enters the Cowtown double third in the 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted Championship Chase, traling Martin by 105 markers.

The 3rd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals kicks off with a Thursday, October 7th practice session from 5pm to 9pm.

Lucas Oil ASCS2 racing action at the 3rd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals will commence Friday, October 8th at 7pm before a Saturday October 9th finale set to begin at 630pm. ASCS type Sprints and Limited Modifieds will also be in action.

ALL 4 Lucas Oil ASCS2 divisions will run a full set of heats and qualifiers Friday, before returning Saturday for Feature action. In effect, Lucas Oil ASCS2 series points will be awarded only in Saturday's feature finishes.

You all need to get out and watch some of these youngsters race, some of the best racing i have seen this year has come from these classes. I have had the pleasure to announce some awesome races and to interview these drivers. They are all class acts, dont miss out get out to I-44, Port City, or where ever they are going to be at and check them all out. You wont be dissapointed with the racing. I have to catch myself some times when im announcing cause i start watching the racing instead of doing my job...lol

There are 600's entered from as far away as Omaha, NE to West Plains MO! At this exact moment there are 54 pre-entered Non-Winged 600's alone! They put on a fantastic show on the 1/4 mile, just like watching midgets to me.

Speaking of midgets, the ASCS2 variety is brand new and there will probably be 10-12 of them...but one is entered from Omaha, NE, some coming from Houston, Kevin Ramey has one entered...that should be a good mix of cars to kick off a new series.

There's still about 12 ASCS2 teams that paid their entry, but forgot to send the driver info (step 2), those drivers have been emailed so we can get the list buttoned up, but it will still be up sometime tomorrow and if some of the names are MIA, we'll fill them in when the info comes to us.

We also just crossed the 50 pre-entry mark for the sprint cars...so it's going to be a wild weekend at Cowtown for sure!

LOL Randy.....

A last lap turn 4 rock star slider. Well....you remember Port. The restricted dont generally get up on the cushion (for technical reasons I dont know). But anyhow - Logan Martin actually did get up in that cushion - thrashed away at her for most of the race. Austin Shores was leading fairly comfortably the last half of the race - Martin put together some great laps down the stretch and closed the distance. It still looked like Shores had him covered until he bobbled out of turn 2 on the last lap - and Martin got a great run off of 2. I don't think Martin was lookin for the slider but he got such a good run and you know how Port is - off the top of 2 he committed to diving low in 3 - made some contact - maybe a little more than some - but it was an all or nothing slider and he came across the winner. He was one excited young Missourian lol.

Speakin of rock star sliders. Mr. J Rock threw a decent one at Andrews with a lap to go in the final Outlaw feature - but he didn't follow through in the style that many others do - didn't push him all the way up the track and take him out - but it was a daring move - we watched him most of the race and didn't even see it coming lol.

Thanks for the added info Darin. will comment much more on this later today - CAN'T WAIT to see the entry lists!!! OVER 50 NON WING!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! WOW! Its gonna be awesome. I know of the Midget guys coming from north of the Red River - can't wait to see who will challenge them from the south. I can think of at least half a dozen folks up here that can't wait to see those lists in full lol. Over 50 sprints - especially on Bo Rawdon's finely tuned music maker.......Man I'm gettin awfully anxious lol.

If JD Porter is around here anywhere......he knows what I'm thinkin right now! HAHA! LOL.

And what's really bad, you can't even 'call in sick' for that family function - as there would be plenty of 'video evidence' afterwards that would seal your fate!
