Well that will be interesting. I'm not really a "fair" guy and last time I checked they didn't allow in and out of the parking lots.

tasty fair cuisine
Come on Scott. You're kinda stretching aren't you.
Oh that's right that's what publicist does.
The fair might be a chance for some of us to get some potential fans to see what excites us on Saturday nights.

Ok.
So, possibly im mental or a prick but...
Youre running qualifying and heat races, then a regular show?
Where is the incentive to put wear on your car, tires, engine etc for, qualifying and heat races only to come back a couple of hours later for... qualifying, heat races and mains.
We all know the track is going to change between the first portion and second portion. Is the first half going to be scored hot laps or actual competitive heat races?

Buzzard...I'll only answer your second question...their running the qualifying and heat race portion at 1:30 then at 7pm they will run the 'C 'main[don't laugh it could happen],the 'B' [it's always possible]and then the 'A' main...sounds like a good plan to me

This is a very interesting schedule. The benefits to getting fair goers into the track to see the races are a plus. This schedule allows the track to promote sprint car racing to new people without having them sit for the entire time it takes to run a program. Also, the track can catch new people at 2 different times thus expanding how many new people see sprint car racing that day.
On the backside of the coin, the regular fan has a long day ahead of them from qualifying to feature finish. If the car count is such that it produces a semi and a main, that's a long wait for 2 races. Hopefully it won't be just one race.
If the track can showcase their racing to enough NEW people and some of them come back, the inconvenient side of the coin will be worthwhile for a once a year occurrence.
Scott: Educate me please. What is auto hockey? Sounds destructive. LOL

We will have at least two small buses (is that a word?) full of race fans and fair-goers headed for the PAS that Saturday. We did it last year and several new race fans and Tony Jones fans came away from the promotion. We think it is a great promotion for new fans as they enjoy the Southern California Fair and the exciting sprint car action of USAC/CRA! We have been looking forward to this date all year. Thanks to the PAS.

Yes, my first thought was that it's a great way to get more exposure, and possibly bring more people out to the track for the Saturday night shows.. This is the kind of thinking we need more of, out of the box. If we don't start getting more people out to the track, racerdon won't have that decision to make!

Not my idea format
Even though Ventura is not running this night, I have very little interest to go to Perris for this 8 plus hours of racing for 4 heats, semi and main if were lucky. I guess Perris will get a couple of cars/drivers from Ventura.
Thanks for the Info Scott, sure would of hated driving 4 1/2 -5 hours roundtrip to see just a B and A main at 7.
A better format, if they have to run at 1:30 is two complete shows, or at the very least, run Qualifying, heat races at 1:30, get points from these, and than run another set of heat races at night, accumulate the points, and line up the main event based on points, or invert them by points.
This "SPECIAL SPLIT" is not very special for me, and I never thought I would say this, but I have better things to do than watch an 8 hour sprint program for less than 30-24 cars. I had planned on attending, and even going to the fair early, used to like the monster trucks, but I do not like daytime sprint car shows, especially when they are not necessary in October. In fact if the heat races are not good, follow the leader type and dust, this will discourage the first time fans from ever wanting to watch sprint car cars again. Hell I am a 30 plus year diehard fan, and I have no interest in this format.
Have fun everyone.
(and this after the long thread on how Perris looked like a ghost town last week)

Thanks Dave for info
Oh a drifting show at Irwindale, now there is a track that knows how to promote races (no offense Perris).
Last time I went to Irwindale for a drifting show, the parking lot was getting full at noon, packed grandstands, lots of entertainment on and off the track, tons of models and auto accesories to look at. Action from 2-10 pm. Definetly a younger crowd, and alot of eye candy
Guess I know what I am doing the 9th.
See everyone at the Wags should be a blast with 3 mainevents. Always one of my favorite events of the year with the Chilli, auction, and the racing. The weather should be great but make sure u bring a warm jacket even if it is 100 where ur at. Naylor like to turn up the air conditioner at night.

What are you guys talking about? A 4 1/2 to 5 hour wait between the heat races and the main is only slightly longer than a typical Saturday night USAC/CRA show at The PAS. (Just kidding)
There is no way I am waiting 4 1/2 to 5 hours between the heats and the mains. Count me out

Ill give credit for this format in that trying different things is what we need to do keep our favorite sport alive and get it to start growing again, but I'm not sure I buy into the wisdom of this idea. As was stated earlier daytime dirt racing doesn't usually result in a good show (I will compliment Perris for preparing as good a surface as you'll see in the daytime) but generally there's dust an/or rubber in the air. which for the race fan is no big deal but isn't the point here to get as many non fans as possible to see and enjoy the racing for the first time? Dusting or rubbering them down is probably not the way to do it, plus a 4-5 hour break to see the B (if there are enough cars) and A mains if you really did enjoy the experience. Perris has done twilight shows previously with a late afternoon start the worked well, doesn't this make more sense? Just my opinion, not hating anyone or anything,

Come on Mike, for this price "Tickets to the fair will get all fans into the races free. Fair tickets are $8.00 for adults at the gate but if ordered in advance they are just $5.00." you'll still have enough money left over to go on the kiddie rides with Rob. After all, someone has to hold his hand.

The PAS should rename the sprint car races to "extreme drifting racing"
