Great race for the lead between TK and Larson. Track was really fast.. good show, just a little chilly!

Track was real fast all night, stout field of cars and a packed grandstand. Some real good racing up front. The Key seems to be getting better each year. Good show all around. Maybe the screaming drunks in the stands who seemed to be caught off guard by the break will stay home next year.

Agree with everything SVMike says, maybe a little tweeking on the half time part, (fuel only 2 crewmembers on track) just a thought.

I was thinking along those same lines, 15 minutes does seem excessive for a 50 lap race. Why not pattern the intermission after Knoxville, 3 crew members allowed to the car for a 5 minute pit stop? Even the Trophy Cup uses a similiar format, 2 crew members and fuel only. Not complaining, just seeing how this can be tewaked to be more fan friendly. Changing a motor on the track in still an impressive feat however.

ever since the key race was split into the twin main event format (to accommodate the amount of laps cars could run on fuel) there has always been an "anything goes" approach to the half way break, and that break has always been some where around 15 minutes. the key race has always had its own unique format, for better or worse, based on personal opinion i guess. still we have plenty of events with cookie cutter type formula's or rules that are relatively similar . as you stated, the trophy cup, knoxville, and even the bradway could be included. the fact that the key race has always been a uniquely formatted event is part of what makes it the key race. there may be other sprint car races that have a half way break, but what other one stops the cars on the track in front of the fans and not only offers the chance to get more than a few words with the competitors, but lets fans watch teams make major repairs or adjustments? the key race was never a sprint race. it started as a 200 lap endurance race. this year there was not only good racing, but a little entertainment to try to raise crowd anticipation, and the event ran its entire course in the time alloted. besides, when was the last time you saw a motor changed on the front straight? at the drivers meeting it was said the 15 minute break was a floating amount that would be determined by just how much time was left before curfew. if curfew was looming, time may be cut. if not, time may be added. besides wanting to see good racing, i think people expect the key race to give them something besides the "same 'ol thing".

to indy and beyond!!
