Not only will USAC/CRA give you a break at the pit gate with your local membership card, but they no longer have a left rear tire rule or a specific muffler rule....and there is NO ENTRY FEE at Calistoga.

I spoke to Steve Ostling and Tommy Hunt from USAC and they are not charging any entry fee to race at this year's Louie Vermeil Classic. For now the series doesn't require teams to run the 180* mufflers or the mandatory RC1 left rear tire. In an effort to get more teams to the races during these tough times USAC/CRA has been trying to find ways to help cut costs at it's California events. USAC/CRA does require teams to run the Hoosier DT3 on the right rear if you are running a 410 engine, but anybody running a cast iron 360 engine can run whatever Hoosier tires they want to on any corner of the car (This does not apply to National Points Events).

USAC/CRA has added a $500 bonus to the highest finishing 360 for each night at Calistoga. This means that you don't need to buy any special tires or pay an entree fee or run any special mufflers. There will be someone on site taking sound readings so you must still comply with the 95db's @ 100 ft. as usual.

All teams running a 410 will still be required to run the DT3 on the right rear, but can run any Hoosier on the left and whatever mufflers they choose as long as they don't go over the sound level.

USAC/CRA does complete a thorough safety inspection before they allow you to race at their events and you must have an approved Head & Neck Restraint system.
