Wow. I think Madsen did what any other race car driver would have done in his position. Let's see: he had the fastest car on the track, he was still leading the race with just a few laps remaining, and he got caught up in a lapped-car wreck. What would you do? Any good racer would at least give it a shot - and that's what he did. Was his RF shock broken? Yes. Was he going to be able to make it and hold on to the win? Only one way to find out. So, to me, as a racer he did what he had to do. Which was stay out and see if he could pull it off - so I admired him for trying and he owed his hard working crew to at least try it.
Was it a potential bad move in that it may take out some other drivers? Yes, but that's racing - nothing more than risk taking. You can't be successful without taking some risks when it comes to racing. Of course, nothing happened at all - he never took out the field. He actually controlled his 'uncontrollable' car back to the pits after trying it a couple laps and dropping like a rock through the field. He deserved to win that race, but luck just wasn't on his side. That was my viewpoint of the situation in GF that night.

He probably owed it to his crew to take out Meyers and himself the next night with a slide job if you could even call it that. And then get the car back out and just flip his Dick off a couple laps later. Guy has no brain on the track. But that's not to say I wouldn't go fishing with the man.

WOO needs to get rid of the work area, problem solved. I can't think of any other track or series in all of racing that hold up the race so a car that's crashed can make repairs.
|
WTF are you talking about? Any track I have ever been to no matter the sanction that particular night give at least 2 caution laps or a small alloted time frame from the time the car hits the work area to make repairs.

I thought I'd see it all until... I saw a guy get lapped and then abruptly stop and bring out the yellow. Now the leader hadn't crossed the start/finish line yet so the guy kept himself from going a lap down and was able to tag the back of the field.

Didn't Lasoski win a Nationals with a LR shock just dangling?

I've actually seen a multi-time state champion do just that very thing at a WoO race at Skagit back in 1994.

If you were at Williams Grove 2 weeks ago they held the race up for Mark Smith to make repairs on his car that was damaged by a push truck . Same deal really. I see nothing wrong with it.Seen it quite a few times . NEVER is a long time

I think everyone is missing the entire point of the work area. It is there for the fans. It is there to provide the fans the best chance possible to see their drivers stay in the race. Every driver is elligible to use the work area should they need it, so why do we act like some unfair act was done every time some one uses it and joins the field? The rules are spelled out very clearly. Even the incident with C. Dollansky was clearly within the bounds of the rules. As far as Saldana's stalling tactic, everyone come on. This has been going on since the invention of the yellow flag. Everyone just thinks it is a good chance to get on the conspiracy band wagon. The work area IS a good idea to me and I have heard very few complaints about it. Everyone is acting like you get to start on the point if you get your car fixed during a 3 lap red flag. they still have to tag the field.

I think few fans have an issue with the "yellow flag/work area."
It is the ABUSE of it many find fault with, including me.

i'd settle for 2 WORK AREA TIMEOUTS per A Main...none of this - "as many as you want until half way thru the race" crap.
if you are out there on the track and feel a good WORK AREA COMING ON...get off the track on the 2nd work area pit stop and get your f-ing sh!t together...otherwise park the POS and give the fans their moneys worth by being a good sport about having a crappy car.

The tracks here in PA give you two caution laps only for a flat tire ONCE per feature(none in heat races), no holding up a race for 5-10 minutes so a team can make other repairs like the WOO does. Now damage caused by a push truck or an idiot retaliating under caution is a different story. That's certainly understandable but if you crash or have part failure during the A main or a heat race, that's just the breaks.

Try going to a track with no walls and combine it with the fact that the WoO has no two spin rule. Or the same track on any given night. You'll see more intentional yellows in one night than you will in a lifetime at other tracks.
|
the two spin rule should be in effect at all tracks imo, but then again it's jmo..
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

So far, it has only been the Posse who has beaten them.
Cubic, I don't think you and I are on their Christmas card list!

Actually Tatnell has at two different kind of tracks this year, the Posse cant claim that
