Anybody know why the ASCS Lone Star/Sooner region races scheduled for Texas were cancelled for this weekend?

I wonder if they may have been worried about car count. With a National race at I-30 on saturday the car count may have been hurt at one or both tracks. JMO but it did seem weird to have a Lone Star race the same night as a National tour when they both pull a lot of the same cars.

I agree with you, Hawg Wild. I thought that was not a good idea - to run races against themselves... and then on the ASCS schedule web site they said that Fri. night was not a Sooner Region points race. How weird is that? It has also been so 3@$^@ #$ hot down here that people have been staying home in their A/C. Last Sat. @ Cowtown it was at least 106 and even with a really neat vintage race car exhibit the fan count had to be disappointing to them. Better than anywhere else, from what I understand. No one knew if this heat spell would continue or not. I don't actuallly know if that had anything to do with it or not. I'm looking forward to the November Sprint Shootout at Cowtown.

Part of the beauty of the ASCS National Tour has been it typically doesn't conflict with a regional ASCS within the immediate area. 40-50 cars in the pits at a National event typically has quite a few cars from the regional series in that area.
Not all regional cars are going to run National events, but the car count for the regional event would be light.
Running 2 ASCS events within 3-4 hr drive of each other on the same night... makes no sense. There just aren't enough sprint cars to fill up both pit areas.
It's a shame... the 2 TX tracks that were cancelled are great to see races at!

I heard it was because RPM and Cowtown lost a bunch of money last weekend so they cancelled the RPM race and figured they might as well mix in the ASCS with that November Sprint Shootout race at Cowtown so they will have a decent car count there.
I'd rather be in Knoxville.
