The
gotomn.com photo gallery has been updated with pictures from Arlington
Raceway on August 14. There are Sprint Car pictures, photos of the
clouds over the stands, pictures of the kids getting a ride in the race
cars and a few Stock Car and Modified pictures. It was a pretty good
night down there.
I will be taking this weekend off from racing.

The kid rid along is pretty cool. At LaCrosse Speedway, they let some kids flag for qualifying a few years ago. Tracks need to keep thinking of things like this to get the young ones hooked.
Very nice pictures Stan, as always.

I was talking with my sister a couple years ago and Jerry Richert Sr's name came up. She asked me if I remembered the time that he took us for a lap around the old Twin City Speedway in Ciconne's Deuce. That would have to be around 1961 as the Deuce was "cut down" and the body removed for the 1962 season. I don't know how I could have forgotten that but when she said that it instantly came back to me sitting in the back of that old coupe hanging onto the roll bars while it rumbled around the track. This was before he got going full time in Sprint Cars and I just knew him as the guy from up in Forest Lake who drove the race car my uncle and cousin worked on. For some reason I didn't remember that but my sister did and it all makes sense why he was my favorite driver when I was a kid.
Some of these kids are going to catch the racing bug just like I did and it will all start with a seemingly little thing like a ride around the track.
