Everybody loves the races at the State Fair no matter where you live. To the drivers it means bragging rights for at least a year as teams and drivers come from area's all over the state, so this sort of makes you the state champion if you win.
Pop up showers were all over the area during the day and at race time, they would flair up three times during the night causing delays each time, the track crew stuck with it each time and the races proceeded after a little time to repack the track. Hats off the prep guy's.
I put the TNT Sprints up front so you hard core sprint fans would not have to sit through the tin tops.

The TNT sprints came into the night on the historic half mile with about 15 or so 410's and the rest of the field filled out with 360's. Daron Clayton took the early lead with Brady Bacon in 2nd Robert Ballou in 3rd.
Ballou slid by Bacon going in to turn #3 for second and just a few laps later made the same move on Clayton for the lead and went on to the win.

Dustin Boney continued his winning ways in the A-Mod race, only thing any different was the mods ran topless like the sprints, I liked the topless, you can see the drivers working the wheel and it added a little more to the experience.
The mousie move of the night was Chad Lyle coming from 16th to 2nd, their were a couple of times Lyle got up to the back of Boney's car but could not get off the corner like Boney or match his straightaway speed. Put up another one for the deuces wild.

Jason Bodenhamer leading the points for ULMA looked like he was checking out on the association and going to the fair after the races just for fun. At about the midway point smoke started coming from the back of the car, Boderhamer started to slow then pulled into the infield.
Vance Wilson who was trailing Bodenhamer took over the lead and held a commanding lead till the end of the race. Enjoy.

Holy crap...that's one hell of a ride for that guy that went out of the park.  Does anyone know how he's doing?  I heard last night on the radio broadcast that he was transported to the hospital.  I also heard on the broadcast that Clayton took responsibility for the crash.  The video doesn't show it, but I would assume this was a slide job gone bad.

Daron Clayton had been trying to get around Parkinson and was losing ground to Ballou, in the process of trying to get around the lap car Clayton slid up infront of the lap car and caught the cushion which sent him flipping also. The lap car turned to the right to avoid Clayton which in turn send him into and over the cushion and started him rolling. I have not heard the condotion of Parkinson today.

May I assume that Chris Parkinson is the grandson of the great Ralph Parkinson? If you ever get the chance - have a chat with Ralph. He has some great stories from the "good ole days" of racing.
