The Deuce Motorsports Team following their 13th place finish in the Knoxville Nationals A Main.

Schneiderman Shines at the Knoxville Nationals

(West Burlington, IA – 8/17/10) Last Wednesday kicked off the 50th Annual Knoxville Nationals. With the #49 car ready for action on Thursday, Josh and the team were present to enjoy the action on Wednesday night.

Fast forward to Thursday night, with a great pill draw Josh would roll out 16th for qualifying and would put down the 20th fastest time out of the 50 cars present. As the track continued to slick off Josh would line up 5th in the fifth heat race. After fighting hard for the 4th and final transfer spot, Schneiderman would cross the finish line in the 5th spot, regulating him to the B-Main.

Excitement would follow in the B-Main. Josh appeared as if he was shot out of a cannon, quickly moving into the 4th position from his 8th starting spot. The yellow kicked on for a stopped race car, which began the excitement. On the restart Tyler Walker snuck by Josh in 1 & 2 and looked as if he might take the final transfer spot, but Josh and his #49 sprinter never gave up and snatched it back on the outside of turn four on the final lap banging wheels as he drove past, making what many people thought was the pass of the week.

The crew quickly readied the #49 machine for the A Feature where Josh would start in the 24th position. "The Professor" quickly made his presence known in the A, as he was working the bottom to perfection. He wasted little time in working his way forward battling with some of the best in the country. In the end Josh would drive his i Wireless sprinter up to the 13th spot!

The Deuce Motorsports team earned enough points to start 6th in the B Scramble, however, Friday night's races were a complete wash out and the Scrambles were canceled. The A, B, & C events would be lined up on Saturday based solely on where each team finished in points. With the #49 team being 25th in points after Thursday it would slate Josh to start 5th in the B Main on Saturday, with a great chance to transfer to the big dance!

On Saturday, temperatures were down, but Josh's nerves were up. As he climbed in the car for B Feature hot laps his excitement was apparent. After looking extremely fast in hot laps, it was easy to tell the 22 year old UNI Senior was ready to get the B under way and when the green flag dropped Josh didn't disappoint. The #49 driver quickly disposed of Outlaw veterans Dollansky and Haudenschild, motoring around the bottom like a seasoned veteran. At one time it looked if Josh might have second, as he looked to be one of the quickest cars on the track. In the end Schneiderman held on for third and transferred into the biggest race of his young career. "I cannot begin to explain how excited we were to transfer through the B," commented Josh, "It is without a doubt one of the biggest accomplishments of our career."

After that exciting B it was going to be extremely hard for the team to top what happened, but perhaps they did. Using both 25 lap segments to move forward, the team advanced 10 spots, finishing in the 13th spot, 13 being the lucky number for green Ideal Ready Mix #49 all week. The soon to be 23 year old would have this to say, "Being in the feature of the 50th Annual Knoxville Nationals was an absolutely amazing feeling. The crew tuned on the car after the B and got us even better and we were able to go forward in the feature, making the night even better. I have to thank my entire team for their hard work all week long. We switched motors after last week and everyone worked their tails off to make sure we were ready to go. I have to thank my Mom and Dad for all their support. It meant so much to have Dad back and for him to be involved in this great run."

With the Nationals over Schneiderman will turn his attention to his school work, where he will be beginning his Senior year at the University of Northern Iowa. Balancing school, work, and racing is never an easy task, but just another challenge Josh enjoys facing.

This week brings Josh to the 34 Raceway, where he will not be racing, but rather will be helping on his little brother Jarrod's #88 and John's #2 cars. Josh will be in the grandstands displaying the racecar and signing autographs from 5-7pm before the races. T-shirts will also be available at that time as well. Looking to order a t-shirt?
