WIth all the drivers and crew that have been hurt this year it has made it very unnerving when someone crashes. I used to cheer years ago when Schatz would wreck or even Kinser. Yes i'm guilty. But then i realized back in 06 when we lost Steve King that it is so easy to lose a driver. I have not cheered once since that night for a wreck and i have gotten on to my son for it too. With all the people getting hurt this year i saw at Nationals a guy cheering when Tatnell took his nasty ride into turn 1. I know everyone has the right to their opinion but I really wanted to say something to guy. It just irritates me to see people cheer for destroyed race cars and possibly a hurt driver.

Thanks for your openness.

If you have ever been "down there" and ran to find out how your driver is you would NERVER cheer when a car crashes.

I always said, "I can replace a car but I can't replace a life!"

I have found that true race fans don't ever cheer for a violent crash. More often than not, a real race fan will hope for a flat tire, or a blown engine, or some other technical issue to take out the competition or a driver that they don't particularly care for. NEVER, NEVER do we wish bodily harm to any driver. Maybe, wisdom does come with age. Who knows. But I agree, it shows the character of a person when they cheer for a possibly deadly accident.

Saw people cheer when they thought BK was hurt at Chico years ago. Made me sick. While I dont care for BK I would never cheer for a injury. Or for their car to break. If the driver I am rooting for cant beat him heads up then they deserve to win. People who act like those idiots who were cheering when Schatz crashed at WG, they should become nascrap fans. Those tools cheer all the time when people crash.

i thought all in all this year, there was a lot of silence in the stands when there was a crash until they found out the driver was ok. I thought there was a lot more respect this year than years past. Maybe i sat in a better section, but very little in the way of cheering when someone wrecked.

Outlaw, I think many of us used to get excited at seeing wrecks happen. As we mature, we realize that exciting as they may be, serious injury/death can result. Unfortunately, based on the popularity of "crash" DVDs there are still a lot of fans who haven't reached that level of maturity! I'd rather see one of my least favorite drivers win than see him in a wreck. The non-wing driver at Oskaloosa a few years back, and Steve King both happened practically in front of me. I never want to see another death at the track.

Very good BigGMan.

One thing to remember that the driver is a Son, a Father, a Husband, maybe a Daughter, a Wife, a Mother, but they are also a fellow human out there puting their life on the line everytime the push off aand fire up the car. If it was not for them we could not see the sport that most of us enjoy so much.

I was raised by racers, I have worked for a Knoxville Nationals winner, I have been around racers all my life.

Please remember these racers also have people that love them away from the track.

Just say a Prayer for the injured racers that we all know. Jack and Travis

Thanks, Just venting

That is so true. I was guilty of wanting a driver I didn't like wreck, until I saw 3 drivers get killed in the same year at Knoxville and later seen another. Once you seen a driver die at the races it take on a whole new meaning. From that time forward, I never cheered when there was a wreck, and hated when there was any wrecks. I used too boo drivers I don't like all the time, now I don't even do that much at all anymore. Maybe because I'm more mature, or just older.
