Boen Opens NCRA King of the Hill Late Model Shootout With Victory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – McCool Junction, Nebraska – August 13, 2010 - Former four-time series champion Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colorado kicked off opening night of the 7th annual "King of the Hill Late Model Shootout" in familiar fashion as he led flag to flag in winning the O'Reilly/NCRA late model feature event Friday night at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska.

The annual August event, which has also been a co-sanctioned affair with the Missouri based Lucas Oil MLRA, saw Boen start on the pole for the twenty-five lap feature finale and quickly set the pace on the twenty-four car field. Boen was never seriously threatened throughout the event.

John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska started tenth and worked his way through the field and claimed the runner up position while eleventh starting Mike Wiarda of Aurora, Nebraska and a strong run and came home third. Madison, Nebraska driver Travis Dickes ran up front for most of the event but settled for fourth while two time and defending series champion Kyle Berck of Marquette, Nebraska experienced an eventful feature. Berck, who ran up front for the first half of the event, got into a tangle with Mike Collins on an attempted slide job with Berck coming up on the short end of the deal. The driver of the Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing/Strobel Construction sponsored Lazer chassis, then worked through the field and was able to salvage a fifth place finish.

For Boen, it was his season leading tenth victory on the 2010 race season with the O'Reilly/NCRA late model division and ninth aboard his own #07 Roadrunner Fabrication/Peterson Fluid System sponsored, Cornett Racing Engine powered Rocket Chassis.

Heat races for the thirty-four car field were won by Bryant Goldsmith, Collins, Brad Looney and Dickes with Mike Wallace and Evan Hubert taking home the twin "B" feature honors.

The National Championship Racing Association would like to thank the following for their support of the series late model division for the 2010 race season: O'Reilly Auto Parts, Hoosier Racing Tires, Sunoco Race Fuels
