Brian Hetrick piloted the Plath Motorsports # 14P from the rear to win the first 305 winged sprint car race at 34 raceways in West Burlington, IA. Sat. night. Nine sprint cars made the opening night in this new class, with more on the way. Jayson Ditsworth in the Olson Bros # 1 finished 2nd, with an excellent showing by veteran Gary "GB" Bonar in the # 97 taking 3rd after leading 1/2 the race, a close 4th went to Justin Newberry in the # 36. Former motorcycle champion Donnie Steward from West Burlington, was running strong, but tangled with Ditsworth and flipped on the front straight. Steward's beautiful #16 suffered heavy damage. Hetrick's brother, Kevin, former B-modified racer, was impressive in his first time in a sprint car.
