It's amazing that our mayor wants to get rid of our speedway but wants to bring alms (American le mans series, yes I had to look up what alms stood for) to our amazing bricktown streets by 2011. I caught a glimpse of it first on the speed report last night on the scrolling at the bottom of the screen and then found this forum of people talking about it.

If this come true I hope they pave the streets in Bricktown. I sure would hate to loose a Porsche in the grand cayon size potholes that we have.

stands at times of challenge and controversy."

Yeah, we wouldn't want BRICK streets in BRICK town.
Cornett, you are a DUMBASS to the 100th degree.
Jerry Park should have had you fired from 5-Alive 30 yrs ago.
What a joke the Pothole 500 is.

Back in the days before OKC started down the path to becoming one of the most UNFRIENDLY CITIES to motorsports, there was even a little sports car action here.
(Photos: Action from the 1959 Oklahoma City "Petite Prix" )

Once upon a time, OKC's fairgrounds had NHRA's U.S. Nationals (1957, 1958). It had NASCAR (1956). It had USAC shows featuring Indianapolis 500 legends. It had WOO. It had flat-track Harleys (100+ m.p.h. with no brakes!)It had Darryl Starbird's Rod and Custom Car Show. It had the NSRA Street Rod Nationals (not the piddly little "Southwest Nats" ). It had America's #1 dirt track (1990) . It had spectacular weekly racing and sold-out grandstand shows during the "Great State Fair of Oklahoma" (forget this "Oklahoma State Fair" crap). And it even sports cars . . . .
All are gone.
Now all we have are an excess of bloviating politicians and an unlimited supply of horse poop!
Given that history, any motorsports promotor who makes a deal with OKC ought to have his or her head examined.
