Hurd Holds on for NCRA Modified Win at Hutch

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Hutchinson, Kansas – August 7, 2010 - Former 2008 series champion Marc Hurd started on the pole and held off race long challenges by current points leader Brian Powers to win the 54th annual rendition of the Hutchinson Grand Nationals in Hutchinson, Kansas on Saturday night.

Hurd, who earned the pole position with his earlier victory during the first night of the Hutchinson Nationals back on the 4th of July weekend, led from the start but it was dog fight until the end as he and Powers battled side by side for much of the race with Hurd finally picking up the twenty lap feature victory, the eighth series win of his career.

Powers would maintain his tights point lead finishing second with "B" feature winner Brent Burkhart dicing his way through the field to a third place finish. Jerrod Reimer and Jim Johnson rounding out the top five.

Defending series champion Dan Daniels was also up front much of the race but mechanical grelims forced him pit side near the races halfway point.

The four heat races for the 31 car field were won by Brandon Massey, Ross Shipman, Powers and Greg Stephens while Tad Davis took home the "C" feature.
