Summer SPRINTacular at Cowtown 8/7 – Drivers: Register by 8/6

Kennedale TX (7/24/10) by DarinShort.com. The on track action at Cowtown Speedway is going to really heat up on August 7th for the running of the
http://www.ShopTheBOSS.com Summer SPRINTacular for Cowtown Sprint Cars. (ASCS-rules, 360CI Sprint Cars.)

$1500 will be on the line for the winner of the event, and we strongly request that drivers pre-register at the track website on or before August 6th so we can keep fans abreast of who will be racing and how many cars will be on hand. If this format works for both sprint drivers and fans, you can expect to see more Cowtown Sprint events structured in this fashion for the 2011 racing season.

This race is brought to you in part by ShopTheBOSS.com that offers “50% Off Floors and More” and please click their link to find a great flooring solutions for your home or office.

The format is simple and here’s how it will work:

- Cowtown Sprint drivers need to go to http://www.cowtownspeedway.com/SS.html and complete their registration form and payment. Pre-entry by August 6th ($25) will reserve their team a concrete slab in the pit area and will reward the driver (only) free pit entry into that night’s event.

- Cowtown sprint drivers that do not pre-enter but show up to race on race night can do so, but must pay the $25 entry fee and purchase their pit pass (which is $30).

- Complete purse breakdown for the event is listed at the above link.

Both race fans and sprint teams have requested more sprint racing on the Cowtown Speedway schedule. Again, if this format is well supported by teams and fans, you can expect this format to continue in 2011. This will give teams a decent purse to run for and will notify race fans in advance of which drivers will be on hand at the event, so they will be insured a solid field of drivers.

In addition to a full racing program of Cowtown-ASCS rules Sprint Cars, LSDCC.com Dwarf Cars, Performance Transmissions raceTX.com Limited Modifieds, Cowtown Bombers and Winged 600’s will round out the racing action. Each of those classes will be racing for additional purse money.

Fast Facts for the ShopTheBOSS.com Summer Sprintacular at Cowtown Speedway, on Saturday August 7th:

-Spectator Grandstands open at 5:30pm; adult tickets (ages 12 and over) are just $15, with youth (ages 6-11) $5 and kids (ages 3-5) $2. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the track website at no additional cost. A limited supply of reserved-seat tickets is available for $18 adults and $9 for ages 11 and under.

-Pit gates also open at 5:30pm; pit entrance is $30 for all ages.

-Hot laps are at 7pm and the first race takes the green flag at 7:30pm.

-For more track information, directions or to purchase tickets online, please visit

K-ville note:

FYI, before we proceeded with developing this event, we wanted to look at the Knoxville registrations for the 360 Nationals, and as of last Friday, there were 2 DFW area cars entered that might be at Cowtown; so we proceeded with our event, as previously scheduled.

ShopTheBOSS.com Summer SPRINTacular notes:

Several drivers have contacted me and indicated they will be entering by the 8/6 deadline. I'll update this post with those names when they are confirmed.

Over the weekend, two more entries have arrived:

33 - Mark Huddleston, Genoa AR

20 - Chad Wilson, North Richland Hills TX

** Have a safe and productive week everyone! **

I cannot believe that i have been reading these posts about this "So Called" Sprint Spectacular at Cowtown and no one has stepped up and pointed out what BAD TASTE it is for a so called promoter to schedule an event like this on the same weekend as the 20th Annual 360 Nationals in Knoxville. The fact that only 17 teams have signed up should tell you that its a BAD idea. Oh, excuse me, maybe you can add "about" 6 more teams to that number. And look at the teams, there are only two teams signed up that have a chance at even qualifying for the 360 Nationals. I would HARDLY call that SPECTACULAR. That should tell you that this "Sprint Spectacular" is really going to be about like everything else that Darin Short is involved in. A self proclaimed "spectacular" full of b, c, and d level race teams, NOT Class A race teams putting on a first class program, not to mention, that there will be 5 more classes of cars just to make a complete race program.

I just want to say to Darin Short and anyone else that is involved in the promotion of this event that one reason this sport suffers in the DFW area is because some "so called" promoters would rather hurt other promoters than work with them to help the sport.

Why dont you try to create an event that would actually help ALL sprint car teams and build the sport rather than create more strife and division between you and other promoters and race teams.

Nothing about this event will do anything to help Sprint Car Teams, Sprint Car Fans, or Sprint Car tracks.

Please consider these thoughts next time you decide to create a real Sprint Car Spectacular.

"BNDPQ"

Actually, we're just giving DFW fans and teams what they want, which is a place to watch a sprint race or go to race. This race was not even switched from a 'normal' night to a 'special' night until the Knoxville pre-entry date closed and there were a total of 2 sprint car teams from the DFW area entered.

Over 95% of the DFW area teams and fans aren't going to either of those races...and when you add Houston to it, that percentage gets higher yet. Since that pre-entry date passed, now there are only 3 drivers entered at Knoxville that might possibly be at Cowtown on that night.

This race has been on the Cowtown schedule since last December.

We're very much in tune with doing the right thing when it comes to scheduling sprint races. We cancelled one earlier this year when another area track scheduled a race on top of ours. But this race will have no effect whatsoever on the other two events at all.

There are now 19 sprints entered, we planned all along we that would have around 24; which we are completely satisfied with.

There are 138 teams in this region that have raced ASCS points in 2010, 14 entered the 360 nationals.

Bottom line: none of the cars or fans we will have at our race were going to be at Knoxville, we're doing what we're supposed to be doing, giving those fans and teams a race.

-------------------

And on a personal note, I'm from Iowa, have been to the K-ville Nationals no less than 20 times, done volunteer work for the NSCHoF&M about 10 years and those people are all my friends, we're hardly in competition with them...and BTW, Bill W will be our announcer at the 3rd annual Cowtown Sprint Nationals for the 3rd year in a row.

"BNDPQ" I hope this gives you some more information, and although I can't change your opinion, I can certainly help educate you on the subject that you're quite animate about...and I think fans in the OK area have been quite vocal on their opinion of how our races at Cowtown have been packaged in the past, and as evidenced, many of which are in our stands on those nights, and I thank them for their continued support...as well as their drivers, which I'd put on my "A-list" (to use your words) anytime.

Have a good weekend wherever you choose to go.

As a resident of the Dallas area I am glad Cowtown is putting on this race. I would love to be in Knoxville right now, but I dont have the time or money to make it this year. The month of August puts everyone in the racing mood and this event gives me a chance to get my "fix".

BNDPQ: Not everybody can go to Knoxville to compete thus they stay close to home. This gives those guys a chance to race for good money without the far travel and I wouldn't call them second. rate drivers either. Sprint car fans will go because it is a sprint car race with not necessarily the big names. Remember, NCRA has the Hutch Nationals for their 360 sprint car division as well and maybe it will be beneficial to those who don't go to Knoxville or those who don't qualify good on Thursday or Friday and head back home At least now they know there are options.

Have only met Darin a couple of times, don't know him well, but the guy helps promote races just not at Cowtown but other special events as well. This day and age you have to promote it, build it and hope it is successfull.

You are intitled to your opinions, however, just as long as you accept ours.

Thank you for posting.

If I was at home this weekend I would be going to this event and be greatful that someone is putting on a sprint car show. I can't afford to go to Knoxville and I know alot of other people who can't either, I guess we don't deserve to see sprint car racing this weekend because Knoxville is having a big show. These are teams that would probably not be going to Knoxville anyway and would be sitting at home not doing anything if Cowtown hadn't stepped up.

I don't see how this is hurting anyone or anything. Darren Short does an awsome job and we make the trip down to Cowtown from OK any time our schedule and money allows it. I say keep up the great work Mr. Short, I believe you have alot more people that support the things you do than agree with this idiot! I can't speak for other OK residents but I know there are a lot of us that love going to Cowtown and will continue to support you guys, great job!

I cannot believe you post such a LAME post ! "bad taste, bad idea" wtf, you come on here and dis the promoter & the teams that chose to race there.

So tell us, should the whole country not race sprints because the 360 Nat's ?

Some teams chose not to race the nat's. " level D race teams " ? I would have to consider you a level Z.

I think its a great idea. Please consider this, your thoughts are hogwash !

btw, are you even going to Knoxville ?

jmo.....

Why don't you open your wallet so all of the so called B,C,and D, drivers can afford to have a shot at the 360 Nationals. I think you stepped in a big pile of dung when you graced us with your brilliant thoughts.

Darin Short puts on great shows and is on top of the game, and takes care of the racers.

You are obviously not from the DFW area. Darin has brought more good race cars to this area than we would have otherwise seen. His midget shows are really great. Some of the best sprint car races I have seen have been due to Darin's hard work at getting drivers in from all areas to race at the best dirt track we have in this area, in my opinion. Yes - there will be a couple of cars that would normally be at Cowtown who are at Knoxville - but to say that the likes of Kevin Ramey, Brian McClelland , Joe Wood, Jr., etc. are not class racers shows how uninformed a "fan" you are. There are many of us who appreciate all of the work that Darin Short does. Thanks to him we still have sprint car racing in this area.

Darin and Cowtown has been the hot spot to watch great racing this year in this area. ASCS and the Sprint series of Texas have all put on great shows this year. I am appreciative of the fact that there is a race this weekend. Like others have stated, I couldn't go to Knoxville so having sprints race at Cowtown is perfect. By the way, I will tell Kevin Ramey that you consider him a level b, c or d driver. Look at the line ups for tonights Nationals and see all the big names having to come through the c and b mains. It really doesn't make sense you saying most of the people racing at Cowtown tonight wouldn't even make the A. A lot of guys won't make the A. It only starts 24 out of over 100 cars.

Does all sprint specials have to be the size of the Knoxville Nationals? Nope!

Like has been said before, you have your opinion and entitled to it as long as you accept everyone elses.

Gonna be fun tonight and thanks Darin for all your hard work!

Dam, look at all the fun I missed out on being away from the puter a few days, some frickin IDIOT post about the most stupidist post I have ever read, I bet most of those so called b,c,d teams could outrun your sorry AZZ , NOT everyone can afford to load up and go to Knoxville or ??? to race, Darin Short is trying to help the Sprints out by promoting a show and a DICKHEAD like you comes along and brings it down , you like a few others on here sit behind your computer and let all know how it should be and really find that pretty amusing to read. Too Dam Funny!!!!
