I probably didn't do a very good job of explaining this above because I was trying to keep it short...sorry. At the risk of making this even more confusing, I'll offer some more info. Here's a couple snipets from the *LONG* version from LW at ASCS:
Northern Plains drivers received points for Northern Plains and Midwest drivers received points for Midwest. A few drivers that are likely to run a similar amount of events for both Regions received points for both Regions. We decided this was a more fair way to do it rather than straight-up points across the board for both Regions.
Points were awarded 150-146-144, etc., with a two-point drop all the way through the "B" Mains. Drivers that didn't start a "B" Main received 75 points. Drivers not taking a green flag at all got 60 points.
Saturday night, 34 drivers received Midwest points and 14 received Northern Plains points. 5 drivers received points for both.
Sunday night, 32 drivers received Midwest points and 16 received Northern Plains points. 4 drivers received points for both.
Drivers that received points for both Regions included Chuck Swenson, Wayne Johnson, Clint Garner, Natalie Sather and Jake Peters. Each of these drivers will likely run a similar number of events with both Regions (whether it's all or most as in the case of Swenson or very vew as in the case of Wayne Johnson). All other drivers will probably not run any races outside of their Region with the exception of the Challenge races.
Lonnie calls the co-sanctioned events a "race within a race" of sorts as Northern Plains drivers are racing against other Northern Plains drivers and the Midwest drivers are racing against other Midwest drivers, yet they are all racing against each other. This is how they've scored the regions at co-sanctioned events down south since the beginning.
