Cody Morris, TULSA,OK (June 28 2010) - Independence Day and Dirt Track Racing. The long annual wait is coming to its anticipated end. A family tradition for generations, indeed since the inception of the sport itself, our beloved Nation's 234th birthday will again be celebrated in that most unique American way.

In celebration of the birthday of our country, race fans will again make that yearly American Pilgrimage to the race track, honoring not only the American birthday, but also the truly singular American sport that remarkable event made possible. Dirt Track Racing.

This coming 4th of July weekend, all citizens, patriots, and race fans are invited to see the very best open wheel racing in the Sooner State this Friday and Saturday, July 2nd and 3rd, as all three divisions of the Lucas Oil ASCS2 headline an Independence Day Special at Dutton's Speedway in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.

As fireworks dance across the surrounding horizon, the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw, Non Wing, and Restricted division will tango their way around the fast semi-banked, 1/6th mile oval in their sole appearance of the 2010 Lucas Oil ASCS2 campaign atop Dutton's Speedway clay.

Hailing from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Lucas Oil ASCS2 2008 Restricted Champion Blake Hahn leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaws into the 2 night stand. Hahn takes a 46 point lead into the weekend over Norman, Oklahoma thriller Christopher Bell. Twenty markers behind Bell, Bixby, Oklahoma's defending Lucas Oil ASCS2 Outlaw Champion Kevin Bayer looks to cut into both deficits this weekend.

As Bell chases Hahn in the Outlaw division, the 15 year old ace leads the way in the exciting Lucas Oil ASCS2 Non Wing division. On the strength of a stretch of 6 consecutive top five finishes that has included 4 victories, Bell holds only a scant 30 point advantage over Pauls Valley, Oklahoma pilot Steven Shebester. Shebester has kept Bell within his sights after a Creek County May 30th triumph, as well as chasing Bell to the stripe in both recent Port City ASCS2 events.

Oklahoma City native Shelby Byrd enters the Independence Day Special 3rd in Non Wing points, trailing Bell by 157 markers. A winner in most recent Dutton's Non Wing local action, Byrd looks to translate that triumph into Lucas Oil ASCS2 success and narrow the distance in points to Bell and Shebester.

Hailing from West Plains, Missouri, 14 year old Logan Martin leads the Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted division into the 2 night stand at Dutton's. On the strength of 6 Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted triumphs already this season, including a recent Port City sweep, Martin takes a 96 point advantage into the weekend over Hulbert, Oklahoma's hard charger Karley Kay Dobson.

Dobson brings her own streak into the weekend, with 5 consecutive 3rd place finishes in Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted competition as well as a remarkable 8 consecutive top five finishes. Sand Springs, Oklahoma pilot Dalton Wisely enters the event 3rd in Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted points, trailing Martin by 145 points. Wisely swept previous holiday weekend Lucas Oil ASCS2 Restricted action in the Memorial Weekend double at Port City Raceway.

The Lucas Oil ASCS2 Independence Day Special at Dutton's Speedway in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma will begin at 8pm both Friday and Saturday evenings with gates opening at 5pm.

My mistake they have taken the midgets off the schedule, but there will be some there for a practice.

They have been working out some of the bugs in the ECU boxes on the midgets. All the cars have sent their boxes back to California to fix this problem. They will be running them this weekend to see if this fixes the problem. If the problems seems to be repaired they will run an exibition race with the Midgets for the fans.
