I agree. I wish we had more 40 & 50 laps A mains. You spend all night at the track and then it's over with a short 25 or 30 lap A main.

Go to an enduro and see all the laps you can sit through.

Go to a drag race if you have a short attention span.

Why not 15 laps, or 5 laps, or just time them and declare the fastest the winner. I don't know what the best would be but less than 30 just won't get it.

"just time them and declare the fastest the winner"
Isn't that pretty much what the current WoO format is?
30 laps is just great on 1/2 mi tracks Knoxville Nationals included, anywhere from 35-40 laps on smaller tracks is fine.
50 laps, no thank you.
I really don't care how many laps you want to run as long as they can make it on fuel and tires without a pit stop.

Maybe my memory has gone bad, but I seem to remember that they used to run 30 lap features on half mile tracks, 35 laps on 3/8th mile, and 40 laps on quarter mile as a general rule of thumb. I think they cut it back because the Goodyears won't hold up that many laps.

The goodyears held up just fine running 40 laps last week at attica and 50 last night at fremont. And if all the drivers had used legal fuel cells there would have been no need for fuel stops.
Sprint car racing is about pushing things to extremes. The best races are usually when the drivers have to use their heads for strategy as well as their right foot.
If these things don't interest you as a fan then I suggest you leave after hotlaps or the heats.

The only strategy in a Sprint car race should be "go as fast as possible the for the entire race". Hence the word "sprint" in the name.
If you want strategy other than that watch Napcar.

I see no one wants to agree with me!
kooks, last year I sold stickers for a buck saying "Sprint 'til the End" got about 300 left and will be selling them again this year, at Knoxville.
If the "big" tracks keep wanting to piss us real fans off with 50 lap, 25 lap 'pit stop' mains then...well, too your own place, I'll find a new home town "SPRINT !!!" track!!
Sprint to me means to the end! Yes, we have reds and yellows. BUT unplanned. I guess if this political planned red flag sprint racing has to continue...I'll wait to watch Jan, Hockett, Blundy, Doty, Swindell, Kinser, Haud, Ferkell, and many many more REAL SSPPRRIINNTT driver do real racing in Heaven some day!

Well!!.. We threw the red flag cause we thought we saw a toe nail on the track, and for the total safety, of the drivers, it was best!
