Its Arizona's Josh Pelkey in Joey Moriarty's Total Seal car,
looks like it may have been taken at USA Raceway in Tucson.

I'm not sure where I got it and I haven't been to the USA track yet. I asked Bruce to download it because it's driving me crazy about where I found it and I can't download for some reason.

Definitely Moriarty's 52 car. It is either Josh Pelkey (probably) or Charles Davis Jr. as both piloted that particular car. The track is a bit tricky. The sunset is the key. The sun sets in the west, and that is a clue. USA Race Park has high boards on the west end, turns 3 & 4. Manzy has a high fence on the west, turns 1 & 2 and none of those are visible. The only other tracks that car ran were Canyon and Central Az. Raceway, both have grandstands on the west, frontstretch. I don't think that car ran at Show Low, but that is a possibility as there are no obstructions to the west, turns 1 & 2.

The car looks cut and pasted into the picture.

I agree with Reed56, looks like the car is super-imposed on a seperate background!

Well yes it's probably Pelkey but look how flat that track is it's definity not Manzy or show low. Yes, it does look like a lot of nice work was done but I can't remember where I got it! Maybe in a program.
Rodney Argo? Wallscraper, you must have hit the wall this time, HARD! LOL

After weeks of research I have found the true story behind this photograph.
The car seen in the photo is being driven by Duke Humahuma Jr in Komoniwanalaya, Hawaii (notice the beautiful sunset in the background). His Dad, Duke Sr., was the driving champion for decades on the old Pacific Islands Short Sprint circuit (PISS). USAC took over so there is no longer any racing because they screwed it up before moving on to Perris, California.
Junior is shown here at speed driving their innovative alternative fuel race car designed to run on a mixture of ground conch shells and poi. The one piece frame is fabricated entirely of marijuana plants pressed to the hardness of industrial grade steel. The family has not released the motor specifications but several old empty Bultaco frames were seen piled out back of their shop.
The surface you see in the photo is not an oval track. Little Duke and his family leveled a three-mile stretch of beach so as to perfect an innovative driving technique he has labeled "straight line drifting". Junior simply mashes the gas, pitches the car sideways and holds the same position for the full three miles of beach.
Damage from repeated collisions with Fat Mama’s Island Bar-B-Q located at the end of the beach have hampered recent prototype development. However, the program is now back on track thanks to Big Duke’s negotiations with a mainland sprint car driving school, guaranteeing an endless supply of damaged, but reusable, suspension parts.
The entire effort has been sponsored by TV's “Dog The Bounty Hunter” & his lovely wife, Piggy. Dog and Duke got to be buddies when they did a stretch together in the Maui prison. Dog recently sold his stable of pimped-out Chevy Suburbans to help finance Duke Senior and Junior’s dream of..
Everything you know is wrong.

This pic was taken at the inaugural McCluskey in Tucson. Josh Pelky was the driver and I believe he won the dash and the Main that weekend.

Wallscraper, thanks for the info. I've been wondering where I got it from and Bruce was nice enough to post it for me.
Boy, that sure gives new meaning to the term "crash and burn".......
I've always wanted to fish Hawaii. LOL

wallscraper, you must have been standing way too close when the car "The one piece frame is fabricated entirely of marijuana plants pressed to the hardness of industrial grade steel" slammed into the BBQ stand and went up in smoke...lol

azsprintfan1,
As a side note there was one collision on record resulting in the car going up in smoke. Little Duke was just fine and in high spirits as he was pulled from the car. A mob of locals caught in the smoke cloud stormed Fat Mama's, devouring her entire supply of pork ribs and hula pie. It just got uglier from there.
Everything you know is wrong.

The picture was taken by Daron Shade at USA in Tucson. I think it was the taken the Second New Year's race at USA. I think Josh Pelkey is driving the car. http://www.swmsi.com/
That is Daron's website.
