Another user posted rates for a hotel in Pleasant Hill as a good will gesture. I decided to pass along the nice gesture by checking availability and rates for other hotels for the Nationals. The info is accurate as of right now (some rooms were sold out when I checked back later.) I will try to update as often as time allows.

Hello Everyone-

I had a room all booked for the 2010 Nationals, but have to cancel it because my buddy and I can't go due to the fact that he and his wife had a baby. . . I was wondering if anyone knows how far in advance I can book a room for the 2011 Nationals? Your help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Joe

I'd guess that it depends on the hotel chain's reservation process....some hotels probably won't reserve rooms until after the Nationals, in order to serve their existing customers who get "dibs" on rooms for 2011....

I would 2nd this. From my experience, hotels will give priority to the people staying this year first and then would open it up to the public. You may want to call to be sure. Good luck!

Be kind of careful around the airport. I had been staying by the airport for most of the last 20 years, but after the second car break-in last year, we headed to stay over by the mall on the west side. Last year someone stole our Earnhardt seat cushions, and a few years ago it was a work-out jersey (odd items). Driving back to Ohio with smashed out windows sucked. One year the Super 8's fire alarm went off for a couple days in a row (non-stop). The Hampton Inn by the airport has been the best in that neck of the woods.

I wish Earl still did Eldora's track prep.

Anybody know of a house, basement or apartment in Knoxville to rent for the whole week for 4 adults?

I sent $10.to the Chamber of Commerce and filled out there housing request 2 weeks ago but have not heard anything back.

That's awesome! The drive isn't bad at all- 4 lane all the way from Des Moines to Knoxville if you take Highway 5. It's fairly new and smooth and will take around 45 minutes to an hour depending traffic/which part of the city you're coming from. Hope you have a good time on your first visit!

MAJ is right, all of the roads are suprisingly very good. Just take 5 south for about 25 minutes until you come to a big 4-way stop, turn left, and that will take you right in Knoxville. What I usually do is just take a few different routes to the track throughout the week, there are plenty of decent paved farm roads that ultimately end up where you need to be, it takes more time but I like taking back roads and seeing all the farm houses and stuff, plus you never know when you might run across a bargain thats sitting in someone's yard with a for sale sign on it. haha. or some good produce
