automotive urethane....two part prime and paint....I clean the mold release off with tsp-then take it to a sand blaster [80 grit]...two coats of primer-guide coat,then water sand [320- 400 grit]...paint with color ...holds up fine

I had good luck with Krylon Fusion (spray bombs). Just sand the tank then paint, no priming needed. Came out looking very nice and so far it's holding up well to wear and tear.
