Is there any luck seeing him this year at Knoxville in August? I've read a lot about him and would love to see him in the midwest.

"Anyone can drive a Sprint Car. The trick is doing it the right way." - Dave Bradway, Jr.
I have always remembered that and always wanted to apply it to someone here in this generation of NorCal racers and the closest I could get was Jonathan Allard, a non-bonzai guy who just looks in total control at all times out there. Kyle Larson epitomizes this after three years behind the wheel of a Sprint Car. If he has the third fastest car, he'll run third, not put it on it's lid going for checkers or wreckers. He's truly a throwback to the wheelmen of the sport. He'll lay down lap after lap after lap of nearly identical times into infinity and if they're the fastest on the track, then you're in trouble. He's always around the top 5 and rarely do you see him tear up equipment. I don't know if you'll hear a negative word about this kid anywhere. When he gets to Knoxville, which may be this year, don't expect wheelies and OMG LOOK AT THAT moments, just expect to see the future of Sprint Car racing.
This kid is good, has a great attitude and nothing but bright skies ahead for the future. I may be preaching to the choir, but figured I'd give my opinion to people who may not have seen him race.

Agreed.. one of the things that separates Larson from the other young guns out here is his racing maturity. When you watch him on the track there is no way you would guess the driver is a 17 year old.
I'm impressed by the way he adjust his line as track conditions change., He'll be on the cushion at one end and on the bottom at the other, if that's what it takes to be fast. He also doesn't seem to have a weakness with respect to surface condition. Hooked up or dry slick he is always one of the fastest cars on the track.
I'd hate to see him leave the area but I do hope the rest of the country gets to see him in person soon.

I lived in CA for a long time before moving east and watched and followed sprint cars a lot. I never got to see this kid run, but it sounds like he may be the real deal. Even if he isn't A-Main Knoxville calibar, I think it's a good idea to drive out to Iowa. It's a learning experience. From California, I think Allard, Tarlton, Crockett, and Larson would not look out of place in August.

Sounds like some pretty boring racing to me. I like to see guys fly up from the back and slide jobs, etc. But I hate to see wrecking, just good, fast racing.
Larson is indeed the real deal. He will be the biggest name in sprint car racing within a few years.

bump from May, 2010
This was back when a Larson thread couldn't get more than three responses.
Do you know who he is now?

Sure do............. He's the thorn in every Possee lover's side. He is the second coming of Tony Stewart. He is the next could-have-been best open wheel driver who defected to Nascar for money and fame. Oh, yes, and he is just another rich kid who has been handed the best of everything available to a driver. NOT!!!

I saw him at the last two USAC Midget shows of this year, Canyon a 3/8, and Perris a small 1/2 mile on Turkey night. He did more than shine, he won them both.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Kyle Larson's PA performance this year reminds me of a turd in the toilet that just won't flush...Spins round and round but doesn't really go anywhere...But in the end, you still thank them for coming out...
