Auto racing suspended indefinitelyEnid News and Eagle
Racing action at Enid Speedway Park has been suspended.
Garfield County Fairgrounds director Steve Barnes said tonight’s action at the oval will not take place.
“At this time, all racing has been suspended and I don’t know when we’ll be racing again,’’ said Barnes.
Speedway promoter James Longpine and track manager Lonnie Colville did not return phone calls on Friday.
David Henneke, chairman of the Trust Authority Board for the fairgrounds, said Longpine “is out as a promoter and is out of the business.’’
Henneke said Longpine told him the speedway’s car count was down.
“So that means his revenue was down and he can’t break even,’’ said Henneke.
Kip Hughes had been the track promoter this year but resigned earlier this week.
