Huset’s Race Fans,
This letter is in regards to the racing conditions on May 2, 2010. We apologize for those conditions. We hauled in new dirt this spring, hoping with the addition of new dirt last year; we would make the racing more competitive for the drivers and fans. After the dirt was hauled in and the track was torn up to blend the dirt together, it rained, and the weather was not too cooperative. There were many days and nights spent trying to get the race track raceable. With all the efforts we tried, the end result were less than ideal. We will be working on the track every day, working to improve the conditions. We need some nice days to dry things out.
Regarding Sunday’s decision to race, we did not know going into Sunday what the condition of the track would be. That’s our fault. Test and tune was cancelled, so the first actual race car on the track was Sunday. We took the grader out and tried to get the muck off the bottom, and smooth things out. We ran the first couple of heats, and the track starting tearing up again. We too are avid race fans, wanting to see the best possible race. We then considered our options. We were getting calls from some drivers and owners asking us not to cancel. Some drivers chose not to race, while some did. After the heats, we asked some drivers and owners their opinion. They responded, we’re here to race. So they raced, and a full purse was paid.
We would like to thank the faithful Huset’s fans who made it to the first race. We would like to offer you a buy one get one free offer for this Mothers day, May 9th. Bring your ticket stub from Sunday’s race and redeem it at the ticket window.
Sincerely,
Greg and Steve Rubin – Huset’s Speedway

....or they are trying to make amends.
Guess it depends on how you look at it.
A bad track is no fun but sometimes it just happens.
Ask some of the track "experts" on here.

Well said origopnwhlr.
You can't say for sure it wasn't greed, but I think there was a better chance of losing money last night than making money.

Not from the area, so don't know the background of it, but the promoters seem to be acknowledging their mistakes and are trying to make amends. Not sure why responses are so negative.

What is with all the hostility and negativity? These promoters were in a no win situation. Just imagine the posts had they cancelled. Some racers wanted to race, some wanted to cancel, and surely most fans were already there and wanted to see a race. They surely had no clue the track would be so horrible. You cannot fault a racer for loading up for fear of safety. Yet some blast guys like Rahmer for loading up for safety reasons, then Mellenbert took the wildest ride I ever saw. Why is it different now? On the other hand, if most racers checked a tracks insurance policy, Ambulance transfer policy, and catch fence, not many would race. So there is always a degree of blind eyes. At least give them credit for paying a full purse.

I thought the letter was a job posting for track preparer or track operator. Husets could use a new track owner - Rubins done a good job strip mining Husets.
Still love husets

Why all the negativity? Does everything go perfect every time with your job? Give the track the benefit of the doubt. I refuse to be negative. I choose to enjoy racing, not spend my time finding something to gripe about.
