We were spolied in Okc with the sprint bandits. Now that the track is gone in Okc we all have to go other places to watch the bandits. They are a awsome show.

RacinBoys ASCS Show is looking for Houston video as well. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have any Sprint Bandits or ASCS (National or Regional) video. Don't forget to listen to the Bandits @ Devil's Bowl and Little Rock next weekend on RacinBoys.

Scott,
I don't understand why racinboys, or ASCS doesn't't have a videographer anyways....again, listening is one thing but being able to watch is another. And, sometimes announcers just can't convey precisely whats happening and it keeps us listeners a little in the dark....for example with Scotty Cook down there last week....he did a great job (Thanks Scotty!) but he even said himself (more or less) "I was at a lost for words that final lap and it was SO close and they were trading positions I just couldn't't get the words out fast enough"....for that part it was kind of like, "whats going on?!?!" (especially being a Hockett fan)....i think ASCS needs a videographer, and I don't know the exact relationship with racinboys but it seems like it could be done fairly easily, not to mention being able to sell the videos afterwords (and catching classic races, crashes, memorable moments, etc for archives and/or compilations). The only thing i can think of is that they would rather have people at the races instead of staying at home and watching....which i understand, but we all know, anyone who can physically attend a sprint car race is NOT going to choose to stay at home unless they have to.
You guys are doing great! Will be listening to every race, and will be watching tomorrows show....
Go Hockett!

Gil Dudak shoots the video here in the Houston area, but I don't recall seeing him there at the track. Since HRP dropped their weekly program, I have been seeing him over at Battleground Speedway. I will see what I can find out about the video and get back.

There are few people that do video for ASCS, but its more regional stuff, I am in OK almost went down to Houston and filmed, but I thought they would get rained out and had a pretty tight schedule this past week, so I elected not to drive down, but I now am kicking myself for not going.

As a professional auto racing videographer, all I can say is this. I shoot every race like it's a historical event. BECAUSE IT IS. And, as someone who holds sacred the visual history of our sport, regardless of sanction, it is my belief that any race series who holds an event and doesn't pay to have it shot by a professional videographer is not only short-sighted, but doing an injustice to their series and the sport as a whole. Some will simply dismiss my opinion as self interest, but I can assure you, that if self interest was my motivation, I would have quit this game, and this life A LONG TIME AGO. I care about preserving the history of this sport. And it drives me crazy anytime a sanctioning body holds an event that is not documented for posterity by video. In fact, I struggle with it anytime a local track doesn't bother to have a video guy. It makes no sense to me.
The thing is, EVERYONE wants video of these events. NOBODY wants to pay for it. And that's unfortunate. And it's irresponsible. There used to be a number of us who did this professionally. Now, it's down to just a few of us. Everybody who is/was in it for money has been run out. But what we do is a bonafide, legitimate trade that is worth something.
Every sanctioning body needs to look at having a hired videographer at every event. One that knows what they are doing. It's important. Simple as that. Just saying...
"If a great race happens and nobody is there to shoot it, did it ever actually happen?"...Hmmm.

I'm looking for some video that we can use for a commercial. Would you please e-mail me to discuss it further? Thanks.

I agree 100%. Imagine if there were no footage from Ascot or unfortunately now Manzanita. The great racing, the great drivers from the past, changes in the cars and the sport would be lost without the video and photos. As Dean has said it is important for the sport to retain and document its history. You never when the next Doug Wolfgang or Steve Kinser will win their first race.

We would love to do video as well as the audio, but our budget just won't allow us to do more then we are doing. We shoot some video, but we can't always do it. We are not in to this for the money I promise!! We are doing this for the love of racing. Anybody that really knows us knows that's the truth. Most of our audio broadcast are done with a three man crew ( lead, announcer and pit reporter), it would take another person or two to do the video right, and that's the only way I would do it, the right way. When the sponsor comes forward to do video, we will do more of it...we have the equipment..
Here is a new sprint car channel on RacinBoys TV, it's call Tail Tank TV. It has some video that the RacinBoys crew and myself have shot over the last year or so. https://www.racinboys.com/racintv/video_view?channel_id=17 Hope you enjoy it.
FYI...Look for an announcement about a group of All-Star announcers making the ASCS and Bandit call in the near future. Your going to like it!!
