Its been over twenty years since I worked on a race team. Back then we ran considerable Right Rear weight on quarter and half mile semi banked tracks with good success.
Question is, "What are the majority of teams running these days for weight distribution?"

It depends on the weight of the driver

I posted, weight of the driver as sarcasm but as Brad pointed out it does make a difference. If Jac should suddenly gain 100 lbs or Steve should lose 100 lbs, their set-ups would change. Steve probably outweighs Jac by around 100 lb's and that additional weight is relatively above the center of the cars axis. Since 20 years ago that you crewed on a car there has been many advances made in tire and shock technology and understanding those factors. Wing or non-wing makes a large difference also. I'm sure that someone on this board with more recent experience than I have can answer your question better than me.

With the 360 team I used to work with, the driver's preference was to always start with 1 turn of RR....

There are quite a few factors involved as has been stated above, with a non wing car guys run anywhere from a little bit of LR weight to 40lbs. of RR weight. On a wing car they still run a decent amount of RR weight since the wing already gives you a substancial amount of LR drive and you need the RR weight to help offset the LR drive.

one funny story though, even with all of the advances since the time you stated working on one, we were having trouble at fremont getting going good on the slick, so one night jokingly, my dad looks at me and goes "im gonna put a set up in this damn thing that i used at lakeville 30 years ago to kick their asses" and started laughing.......well i ended up talking him into trying it, and a setup from 30 years ago has been working well for us at fremont. the first 2 weekends we did it,n we came from 16th to 6th both nights.......sorry for the book i wrote, but thought it was kind of funny
