I have raced sprint cars since 1988 and I didn't really have any issues about most rules in sprint car class except one thing that I never really understand, TIRE RULE.
Why can't we have the general rule for tire, saying that we are required to have 40 or higher durameter on RR tire and 30 or higher durameter on LR tire, or something like that? That way to allow us to buy any brand of tires we want to run on. Instead of specific the brand and model of tires, for an example at a race track, they only allow Hoosier SC-25 RR tire and Hoosier RC-1 LR tire.
It is just like that we do have the rule for the wings. But it doesn't require us to buy only ABC wings.
Same for the chassis rule, it doesn't require us to buy only XYZ Chassis.
And so forth for other rules too.....
I wonder if you feel the same way??? Let me know what your thoughts are. Help me so I don't feel really strugglings with tire rule.
Thanks,

I am with you on that thought Greg... We tried the durometer deal with the old MSS and it worked great... Unfortunately, today, many of the tire rules are implemented because of sponsorship (kickbacks) from the tire companies,,, (i.e.. if you mandate our tire we will pay you x-amount of dollars per tire purchased for your point fund),,, With the old MSS right rear durometer rule, we had cars from Knoxville, Wissota, IMCA all having right rear tires that were legal to run as long as they got past Chuck's meter....
I think that the UMSS and IMCA have something that is very close to the same in tires for this year, where you can run either sanctioning series tire at any (except the normal Sat night shows at Arlington) of the shows and be legal. Jackson was onthe same rear tire rule as the UMSS last year, so unless they changed tires shouldn't't be a real issue this year...
